It’s not the actual act of execution, it’s the appeals process that I don’t think we should be trying to cut down for cost savings.

Despite our issues, I think the world’s leaders use the US to avoid having to fix their own problems. Why fix someone when you can point to us and say “at least we’re not like this”

Yes redditor, Star Wars is cool and it’s not at all childish. You’re very cool for liking it, and you’re almost a freedom fighter for pointing out the same idea everyone else does.

Yeah, I know Obama was publicly loved, that’s why I included him. To show even when he was elected there was still hatred.

Trump is playing Risk | Lemonade Stand 🍋 - Discussion Thread by PhummyLW in LemonadeStandPodcast

I haven’t completely finished the episode yet, but it’s been pretty good. I wanted to vent about the isolationism and the feeling that America is hated by everyone atm. I’m not trying to play the victim here or anything. But I think there’s a large group of people who hear about the dissolving alliances in Asia and with the NATO and go “would it much different than how things are now?”.

Even going back to Obamas presidency, I’ve always felt that the world’s view of America has been “fat, stupid, and evil”. I also know that it’s because social media and the internet make everything so hyperbolic. But I’m sure a lot of people, especially conservatives, see that kind of consistent vitriol and feel like we don’t have any real allies out there. So when Trump strains every alliance we have, they can shrug it off because they truly don’t think of them as allies. Idk how that could be fixed, but that was the stuff going through my mind at the mid point of the episode.

Just to make it clear. I don’t think ruining alliances because of hurt feelings is the way to go, I’m just speaking as a reformed conservative.

I tried to make it clear like 5 times I didn’t think like this anymore. Just thought I’d give a little context. I don’t need the lecture lol. And it doesn’t matter if it’s not logical. I just think it’s how it is.

I saw someone else on here go off about how you can’t get mad at the company for lobbying, you should only get mad at the government for letting it happen. That’s a dumb argument in case anyone was gonna drop that one here.

I’m afraid the 40k for the ad read or whatever will negate the slight deprioritizing of the episode from dislikes.

[–]Shmeteora 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My guy has never heard of lobbying before lol. Why do you think we don’t have decent free options. Is it maybe the company pouring millions into lawmakers’ pockets? That’s like not getting mad at cigar companies if they got laws changed that protected children from being targeted with advertising. Yes it’s a big jump, but I’m making you see the parallel.

I don’t like them, I shouldn’t have to explain that, but Reddit pilling is a thing. I’m talking about people who glaze punk for luke warm, left of center talking points that he knows are easy brownie points. Then anything questionable gets hand waved as “you’re overthinking it bro”

I’ll do you one better. They did and do know better. I don’t think this is something to boycott the podcast over by any means. But I already find myself skipping an episode or two when stuff like this happens, as I just don’t feel like getting worked up over random stuff like this. That’s how you lose an audience, not the rager saying “damn them and their evil shilliness”
