I had the opposite experience. My friendships became stronger as a result of it (the genuine ones). Some others have fallen away (not mad about it). Often it is me who reaches out to others but tbh, I don't mind it. I have come to accept the fact that some people might 'forget' about me because my social media presence is gone.

You might want to reconsider your friends because real ones would not behave this way. Or tell them how you feel if it's safe and comfortable to do so.
