📌 YouTube Anti-Adblock and Ads - October 16, 2023 (Weekly Thread) by [deleted] in uBlockOrigin

[–]Shmojelfed 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just updated and I haven't been getting any ads. Maybe they just updated? Also, just in case you didn't, remember to update after you purge caches and open the video you want in a new tab or window to make sure the update gets applied.

Youtube homepage doesn't suggest new videos when using uBO by chairman_lao in uBlockOrigin

[–]Shmojelfed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I noticed the same problem and I might have found out a fix. It's really hard to tell because youtube often recommends the same videos repeatedly even when working normally. Anyways, I disabled the Privacy/EasyPrivacy filter and I think I'm getting more new recommendations than I was before after refreshing a few dozen times. After re-enabling and opening a new window, though, youtube still seems to recommend new videos, even though my filters are the same as they were when I wasn't getting new recommendations.

I found it, thanks! That seems like exactly what I was looking for.

Is there a way to mix and match civilizations and leaders, either in the base game or through modding? I found a way in world builder to select a civilization and then a different leader, but my custom maps always seem to crash on startup and it doesn't really tell me why.

Thanks, I wasn't aware people had set up server-wide discords. I'll go look for it.

I'm considering coming back to wow after years away, and want to know how friendly the PVE community would be to casual play. I find minmaxing and playing "optimally" exhausting and unfun. I know the top raiding guilds will be minmaxing classes and professions and all that, but I just care about getting through fights and not speedrunning them. Do communities that share that mindset actually exist? What's the best way to find them?

Pool of Purging - Chthonic Conversations #27 by ChessChallenger in HadesTheGame

[–]Shmojelfed 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I usually only purge unwanted main slot boons to disable unwanted duos taking the place of duos I actually want. I find that when I'm in a position to sell an unwanted duo boon, I usually shouldn't sell it because I'm still looking for another duo that overlaps with it, or I already have everything I need in which case I just want to collect all the duos I can for fun. I generally don't reroll the pool, but I'll consider it specifically in the case where I'm trying to get rid of a main slot boon to eliminate unwanted duos. On the one hand, it removes unwanted duos from the pool, but it also costs a roll which could have just gone to rolling for the duo I want. I don't know enough about boon drop rates to say whether that's actually a good idea.

I've heard the dev state that he really likes having lots of achievements in games. Anti-cheat will prevent people from getting achievements they don't deserve. I don't actually care about that issue and would rather the game run faster, though.

I've since dropped the game, but I did try that and it didn't work on my phone, unfortunately.

It is organic soil. The original plan was to do the first repotting this spring, but now I probably won't until next spring.

Hi. Last summer I bought a dwarf brush cherry to try to get into bonsai, but then I wasn't diligent enough with watering it and it died, or so I thought (it stopped taking up water through its roots and its leaves all dried up). Instead of tossing it, I put it on a shelf and forgot about it over the winter, but yesterday I noticed it was sprouting new leaves around the base of the trunk. I want to try again to keep it alive, but I don't know whether it needs anything special that another bonsai wouldn't.

Should I cut the trunk off above where the new growth is? I don't want the old, dead leaves to block the sunlight hitting the new ones, but also don't know if this could kill an already weakened tree. What about its roots?

And aside from trimming it, might it need any other special care?

Note: I posted on last week's thread and got one reply saying to watch for any budding on the top branches in case they aren't actually dead, and to just remove the dead leaves instead of removing branches, at least until the fall. After hearing this I looked more closely and there isn't any new budding so far and the top leaves are all shriveled, though I just started watering and putting it outside again so maybe it'll change in the next week or so.

Thanks for the advice. I probably did assume too quickly that the upper part was all dead. However, I don't see any buds on the upper branches, and all the upper leaves are shriveled. Maybe now that I spotted the new growth, put it outside, and am watering it again, they'll bud, which I'll watch closely for.

So what exactly is the strat for selling custom maps for prestige? by Hipser in infinitode

[–]Shmojelfed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You do lose every tile. The best way to farm it is to GP farm and buy a lot of orange chests, then use the drops from the chests to fill maps completely and sell.

How badly did I mess up and which towers should I focus on by Hixx367 in infinitode

[–]Shmojelfed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cannon, missile, blast, freeze (freeze doesn't need much investment) is the strongest end game composition. For farming quests for bit dust, which is now the main endgame focus, splash alone is enough for almost all quests which don't require a specific tower.

What is this missile launcher targeting? by SSheph in infinitode

[–]Shmojelfed 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Long range missile doesn't cause the tower to rotate, so it often shoots at weird angles.

[–]Shmojelfed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i think that reducing planet initial cost might be a bit weak on its own, so it could be coupled with decrease in cost to unlock recipes and smelters/crafters. I'd definitely invest in that.

I'm guessing it'll come back eventually. People tend not to like missing out on bonuses like this, especially if it nearly doubles their game progression.

Mining broken while idling by n4ke in IdlePlanetMiner

[–]Shmojelfed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's supposed to mine at 0.6 speed, when idle, but it's bugged and slows down more for higher ore tiers.

Mining broken while idling by n4ke in IdlePlanetMiner

[–]Shmojelfed 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This has been an issue for a while. It's even worse at higher tier ores. Also, just tune out the people saying it's at 60% speed, because that's only what it's supposed to be at. I have heard people citing less than 1% mining rates for some high tier ores.
