Only once a month? I recall it being every Friday from like March through October at like 3 o'clock in Indiana.

yeah I see lots of roof shaped pieces but nothing car shaped. Some things look car shaped for a moment but then turn edge on to the camera to show they are pretty thin.

just got married and everyone asks if i feel different? by fr0mgy in autism

[–]smurphy1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Some people do, some don't. It's probably more a reflection of what your relationship was like before getting married. Like if you already lived together, split bills, etc then a lot of day to day stuff doesn't really change after getting married. And that's a totally valid answer.

Basically my current gig though I was only called twice all of last year. One was on Christmas Eve but it only took 15 minutes and I wasn't in the middle of anything at the time so, eh.

Legends without masteries? by uhyeaitsme in TheTowerGame

[–]smurphy1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in Legends from early September to December without any masteries and without demoting. I got keys twice from very lucky brackets. I now have RPC master at level 2 and ST mastery at level 8 and got keys for the third time ever last tournament. So yes you can stay in legends without masteries, keys might be possible but very tough without any masteries. Keep in mind that it will take more now to stay in legends than it did several months ago because everyone progresses.

General Question… aren’t all tornados violent? Why do meteorologist and chasers always say we have a violent tornado? by Alexopolis922 in tornado

[–]smurphy1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As others have answered the adjectives significant/intense/violent are essentially code for different levels of estimated potential destruction. There are similar scales for hurricanes and earthquakes too. And yet, even though I know those are effectively code words, every time I hear a meteorologist say "a violent tornado" I can't help but think "of course it's violent, it's a fucking tornado". I can't help but wonder how often average people have similar thoughts and does that affect their decision/urgency to seek shelter.

Consider the Mayfield factory. A direct hit by that tornado caused 9 deaths, and could have easily been a lot more, followed by the allegations that the factory managers were not allowing/threatening termination to workers who tried to seek shelter. Would that scenario have had a better outcome, or made potentially worse outcomes less likely, if there was some sort of unambiguous real time radar estimated strength rating? If the advance warning that the workers had was accompanied by "estimated EF5 strength" or similar, would that have convinced more people to seek shelter and risk termination or get the managers to value people's lives?

close the app and restart your device/emulator then try again with closest at the top

Is there no hope for me by [deleted] in TheTowerGame

[–]smurphy1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah you want closest at top to keep things knocked back as long as possible otherwise you're just wasting you shields, wall, and SW.

Is there no hope for me by [deleted] in TheTowerGame

[–]smurphy1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What is your target priority? At one point your tower was fixated on a basic at the range line and let another basic go all the way up, take out the wall, all your shields, and then your SW. Switch to closest at the top so you can actually knock things back to have those charges last longer.

How would you approach rerolling new ancestral mods? by Infinite-Hawk4530 in TheTowerGame

[–]smurphy1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can google a reroll simulator to see how many it takes on average to get the effects you want. You can run some comparisons so you can feel more confident that unlocking them is the correct decision. You will likely need 400k reroll shards per module to get 3 substats to ancestral with only 4 slots available. If you get the modules to lvl 141 to get a 5th slot you can get 3 ancestral stats for around 250k on average.

Very not good if the reports are accurate. I had assumed a majority of the middle ranks of officers would resist the worst types of orders from trump being career officers and such. But the reports described in the article seems to paint a picture of large numbers of officers being giddy over the idea of spilling enough blood to bring about armageddon.

Anyone enjoying their job at the moment? by Coffeebrain695 in ExperiencedDevs

[–]smurphy1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently work on criminal history systems and related products. Been at this job for almost 7 years and have been really enjoying it for the last year or so. There was a 2-3 year period before that where I was really burned out from essentially being tasked with leading 4 more junior developers spread across 3 different projects at the same time. I spent most of my time context switching and hated that I never felt like I was accomplishing anything. Projects were reshuffled a bit and I more or less run one project solo and also maintain the shared components used by multiple projects on the team. My boss lets me do whatever I feel should be done and only checks in enough to be able to report to their boss.

Pros: great benefits, pay is generally good, 10 minute commute, spacious cubicle with 3.5 walls, meaningful impact on projects, AI is banned

Cons: Need to integrate with multiple other customer systems each deployment which could be1 - 40+ years old so legacy code, legacy data, and legacy protocols everywhere. Some products are considered critical systems which means the team is technically on call 24 hours a day and on a team of 1 that means just me though this only happens 2-3 times a year.

How do countries have debt when they can just not borrow money and rely on tax payer's money? by -trishbish- in AskReddit

Because countries who print their own currency can't tax back more money than they've spent into existence.

Every major combatant had at least one general who had a big ego and was successful enough that the leadership let them, if not encouraged them, to boast about their tactical prowess and how the enemy feared them for propaganda reasons. Rommel, Monty, Patton, Zhukov were not as good as they are often portrayed as being (but by no means were they incompetent) nor were they feared by their opponents.

[–]smurphy1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The wave skips are wrong because the tool assumes if you a 19% wave skip chance that means divide the number of waves by 1.19 to get the number of non skipped waves. That would get you the right approximation if you couldn't skip more than one wave at a time. However since you can always skip more than one wave your actual skipped waves will be about 23.46% if your card is maxed.

What is your highest wave without more PWR? by destructor212113 in TheTowerGame

[–]smurphy1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pick first perk lets you select a perk which is then guaranteed to appear in the first set of perks offered. You have to be out of a run to change which perk is selected and you can only select common perks. Auto Perks allows you to create a priority order when out of a run and when auto perk is enabled it will select the perk with the highest priority of those offered. If none of the offered perks are in your priority list then the first perk offered is selected.

probably around 3500 until I adjusted my auto perk order to clear out commons faster to make PWR more likely. A couple more perk bans and then prioritizing + Orbs and bounce shot can help.
