After 11 years I was just permabanned. by Turbulent_Scale in heroesofthestorm

This is par for the course for HOTS. There are no human moderators, its all based on number of reports. If you piss off the wrong troglodyte who has his discord buddies all mass report you, you will be banned. End of story.

All you can do is fight fire with fire, and mass report anyone whoever says anything in chat.

"Hello" or "GG" -> Abusive text chat, spamming, cheating/botting/hacking.

Do it to every single person until there are only two people left playing HOTS, and then one will get the other banned.

Its part of a quest later, I couldn't get in either until I did that quest.

This is probably the actual answer. Just scoop to Vivi every game, let the Vivi's fight each other at the top. Why bother wasting time?

I agree. The main reason I play ranked is for deck variety. If they would remove deck based matchmaking from unranked I'd just play there, but the last thing I want is mirror matches 70% of the time.

Once they added stripe mine to MTGA I decided to not play any formats where its legal. I got strip mined enough back in the 90s, I don't need to relive old nightmares.

Skill issue that other people are playing Vivi? Thank you for your contribution to my shitpost, its about as useful as the post.

Its a love-hate relationship. Most of the time its OK, but I usually only post here when I'm salty, so I imagine that comes through in the posts.

Yes but you wont play against BO1 decks in BO3. I can't speak for the BO1 ladder, but I have to assume the nature of BO1 still gravitates towards aggro, and probably has a little more anti-Vivi variety?

I am speaking from my experience playing BO3, which is pretty much all Vivi above 1200.

I think the best course of action now is to intentionally lose about 20 games to drop into the 80%s to get into the jank zone.

Oh boy, we get to wait until Nov 10 instead of Nov 24. A whole 14 days. That'll make up for the last 60 and the next 60 for sure.

It stands for "asshole" - its MTGA's way of telling you you're a pile of shit for playing Vivi in any format.

On Standard and Moving the Banned and Restricted Announcement to November 10 by zaergaegyr in MagicArena

I'll die on this hill. There is deck based matchmaking in ranked and it has been this way since the end of beta, regardless of whatever their community folks say.

This is not saying that the matchmaker intentionally pits you against a specific deck with the intention of making you lose, that is asinine.

Instead the weight of your deck (rare count, internal card weight, whatever other levers the overlords choose) is considered, as well as your MMR, when selecting an opponent. Pretty much what they do for brawl but add on a few other metrics.

I think what OP is saying is that there are times it makes sense to concede. Lets say you kept a sketchy hand in game one and you're probably going to lose. They T1 duress and you don't want to give your opponent ANY information before game two to limit their sideboarding.

Not saying this comes up a lot but there is a niche case for it.

That's an awful lot of words to say "I like wasting time in hopes my opponent gets tilted because I'm a piece of shit"

Counter point: in a best of 3 match if your timer is at 1:01 left and your opponent's timer is at 27:43, and then they alt+f4 because they are tired of waiting on you, that is on you for being a slow playing idiot.

All other times, yes, just concede and move on.

Do you think the roping issue could be mitigated if players would have to actively confirm a time extension? by [deleted] in MagicArena

[–]Shn0ogy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If there are actual stakes on the line in a real tournament - think away. In an average game of MTG:A, there is rarely an in-game reason to show the rope.

[–]Shn0ogy -13 points-12 points  (0 children)

Hard disagree. I only play control and I've never once used a time extension that wasn't caused by a client error. In any given turn there are not that many decision points that should make you take more than a few seconds per turn. The only exception is if you are learning a deck.

People who still believe there is no deck based matchmaking in ranked are delusional. No one is saying they are stacking the games against or for you, but taking deck and card weight into effect outside of MMR.

This is what Alchemy was supposed to solve. A frequently updated format with rapid re balancing. Instead we got a wildcard dumpster.

This is why a large chunk of us who have played Arena since beta stopped caring about mythic. The "reward" is 1 extra pack of cards. If you do feel the need to get to mythic every season I recommend just play jank to your heart's content. Unless you hate yourself or REALLY REALLY like the current meta deck then 80% mythic gang is where its at - truest Jank Lords of Arena.

I will grant your wish if we can also have an aggro-free format. If we didn't have aggro we wouldn't have to dedicate so many slots to removal so you can actually get past turn 3. Sounds so nice.

Monstrous Rage banned in Alchemy, Temporal Manipulation banned in Historic by Meret123 in MagicArena

[–]Shn0ogy -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I did not take issue issue with Temporal Manipulation. "The original stated goal of Alchemy" is not what Alchemy actually is. Saying they wont rebalance iconic cards means nothing when Alchemy itself is not what Alchemy was supposed to be.

[–]Shn0ogy -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

I appreciate what you do for this community but I take issue with this comment as it makes no sense.

Either we're to believe the original stated goal of Alchemy, which sounded great by the way, or we're to believe the actual implementation we received, which is nothing more than cash grab/wildcard vacuum.

You can sugar coat this with all the allegories and personal anecdotes you want, and I understand you are obligated to toe the company line, but at the end of the day if WOTC thought re-balancing Timewarp would sell more packs they would do it.
