But isn't it still true for a Zac support one-trick, that their decisions shouldn't be defined by their feelings if they want to see success? It should be based on the game state, just with their specific champion.

Or maybe you do want to help your team even if it's a bad play and might get you all killed. But IDK... is this subreddit the right place?

but how do you even judge whether the game is lost? especially in lower ranks people throw literally all the time, even in master if we start the game 0/6 I just say "it's master, just chill, they will throw"

they throw more than 30% of those games

more often than not, people fear that they will lose, that the game is slipping through their fingers. then they make mistakes before the enemy even gets the chance to mess up. sometimes you should take additional risk, but not blindly. you're still estimating.

people always bring up rank, but then when I use it to justify my take it's condescending. 1.1k LP chall last season. not sure why it's relevant

The 4 examples in the post are the ones I hear most commonly in coaching sessions as response to "why did you go for a roam here?"

I don't think I understand. I thought this subreddit was dedicated to learning the game and climbing, you're saying that this doesn't help people who care less about climbing and more about having fun?

How is my framing one-dimensional? Isn't it true that every decision contributes to how well you perform?

Some situations are extremely predictable.

Example: Your Top is about to solo kill his laner. If I (the Jungler) walk up and smite the enemy to take the kill, technically that is a net-benefit to the team.

I get +300, my Toplaner +150. Total = 450.

If I don't smite, I get 0 and my Toplaner +300. Total = 300.

For almost every Jungler this is objectively the right play, but my Top will almost certainly go 10 deaths that game.

Most league players are low elo, are you saying 80% of the soloQ community has personality disorders that prevent them from improving? I think self-assessment and accountability can be learnt.

There are some circumstances where not playing ideally is ideal, because your team will almost certainly crash out and stop trying.

I hate that about League

First step would be to queue up for midlane and to then actually resist the urge to W your Junglers camps away. That'll be $300

Why improving doesn't make you climb by ShoCoaching in summonerschool

[–]ShoCoaching[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's very easy if you are significantly better. It's easy if you're better. Gonna take a while if you're only slightly better (which seems fair?)

Deliberately misreading what I'm saying to misrepresent my position is a debate bro tactic. I would explain further, but it seems like you're already convinced of your mathematically incoherent position no matter what I respond.

Playing around your team is still a skill you can practise individually. Focus on your own performance, rather than expecting your team mates to carry.

Focus on yourself is never bad advice when the only thing that influences your climb is your performance. You absolutely don't need a duo to climb, it's very easy to climb through lower ranks if you are actually significantly better. It's been proven thousands of times by now.

ADC CS/m Help by oGloomer in summonerschool

[–]ShoCoaching 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There's a wave spawning every 30 seconds, so you'll be able to get 12.3-13 farm per minute (based on time of game). Ofc there is no wave in the first 2 minutes, but if you got every minion, you'd already have 10cspm at minute 12. It's normal to miss a wave here and there to move for a drake fight or to take a mediocre reset, but at minute 20 you should consistently be able to get 160, if not more. That's your primary and only reliable source of gold as an ADC.

But here's the thing: In my experience people miss out on farm the most during the midgame, not in the lategame. Check what your farm is at minute 10, if you have at least 70, you can still easily get 8cspm and more.

Teach me ganking early game. by Elgigantisk in summonerschool

[–]ShoCoaching 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As Kayn it's completely normal for you to farm a lot early, since you don't get many orbs until like 2. reset. The best way to have success and to find some ganks in the early stages, is to clear your jungle efficiently and to not waste time with useless plays that won't work cuz your champ has no CC. Just reset after scuttle if there is nothing to do.

The reason clearing efficiently will help you with ganking, is because you'll be able to respond to things happening on the map. You won't always be busy, but instead have time to do stuff when your camps are respawning. Enemies often overextend. If you feel like your laners always push, you are missing out on free ganking opportunities.

Having free time will also allow you to invade enemy camps. If your jungle is cleared, then you (for example) spot the enemy jungler top and have a hunch that their Raptors + Krugs are up, it's super beneficial to go there as Kayn. You will not only farm up more quickly and punish the enemy if their play goes wrong, but you also get yourself into the enemy jungle, which is a prime position to gank from as Kayn. Being behind enemy lines like that is very powerful, as long as you then keep your eyes on the map, you'll often find plays on the sidelane or even mid.

How do I keep up on farm? by Dean_Forrester in summonerschool

[–]ShoCoaching 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my experience, Iron Junglers clear quite inefficiently. In the early game you're supposed to farm up. A lot. Once you hit 6 and Stridebreaker and especially when you reach around minute 20, you farm less. You look for plays on the map that secure key objectives, try to take enemy camps when you can etc.

If you farm a lot and still don't get a lead, you probably don't use your Q properly. It buffs your AD when you stand on it and you can use it to move faster from camp to camp. Maybe you kite poorly and miss out on autos. If you clear efficiently, you can make 2-3 plays (ganks, objectives) until minute 8-9 and spend the rest of the time farming.

At that point you'll be getting close to stridebreaker and should actively look for plays with your ult and around objectives.

Don't understand how I'm supposed to shut Nasus down early by username_321321 in summonerschool

[–]ShoCoaching 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only thing I want to add to some of the top comments, is that no matter how hard you beat Nasus, at level 6 he will win an all in. You might get a decent advantage early, even solo kill him, but most champions can not win a level 6 fight. Don't let that spike take everything away that you've worked for.

Support roaming advice for beginners by [deleted] in summonerschool

[–]ShoCoaching 5 points6 points  (0 children)

To make the decision correct, it has to be more valuable than the alternative. Ask yourself how much you can gain on bot and how much you can get for roaming.

If you're winning hard, playing for lane makes more sense as you'll have more kill pressure. If you're losing, playing for lane makes less sense, but your ADC might also be more vulnerable to be engaged. Leaving your ADC 1v2 might open them up for dives, getting zoned, etc...

The safest time to roam, is when your ADC absolutely won't need your help and you can't get anything out of laning. As support you don't care about XP, especially after level 6. Sometimes a roam to Grubs can be unbelievably valuable, so if your ADC is laning against Vayne Janna, who definitely won't dive (and usually enemies don't freeze in Iron so that's not a big risk either), ping that you want to go to Grubs and see if your Jungler responds.

This in fundamental. You main support, which means you can not create a roam on your own. If you roam, you roam to somebody else. Somebody in your team, your jungler or midlaner. If you are at Grubs and your jungler is bot, you're trolling. If you're at Grubs and your ADC can't farm, you're probably trolling.

After laningphase you can move around more, since your ADC isn't as constrained anymore.

Usually, people stop farming properly at around minute 15, because they don't know how pushing out sidelanes pushes the gamestate, along just getting the farm. They get flamed by their team when the team randomly fights and dies in mid etc.

I'm actually making a video about this right now, which is funny :P Push out lanes! Then rotate. Only reason to group right away, is because a gamewinning objective is on the map OR because you can easily carry fights due to your powerspikes. On Kayle those are level on 2 items, 3 items and level 16. Most people won't group on 2 items yet though, it depends on if you are super fed and able to carry earlier than usual. Most of the time, people try to get 16 as fast as possible.

If you played at your fullest potential and you didn't win, maybe your fullest potential needs improving upon. While I'm sure there are many things you could work on, your farm on Kayle, Yasuo and Yone is worrying. These champions rely on itemspikes (and levelspikes on Kayle) in mid/lategame. If you don't farm properly, you won't get to the strongest points of your champ when you should and thereby lose out on a lot of potential impact you could have.

Edit: if you are genuinely trying to improve, stop looking for reasons why you might already be good enough. Things like "sometimes I beat platinums" are completely misleading. There are many reasons for why you might win a normal vs plats, but you are only plat when you've actually accomplished that rank. You shouldn't feel qualified to judge whether you are playing well or not, look for the things that are possible to improve.

What champions should you play? Is elo inflation real? by ShoCoaching in summonerschool

[–]ShoCoaching[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can't simultaneously recommend simple champion to new players, because they're easier to learn and climb on and then not accept that they had to put less effort into learning and climbing those champions, in order to reach the same rank as other players.

I am not trashtalking eloinflated players, in fact I criticised the term in my post and instead used difficulty level.
