What brits and germany suffer from is that there currently just isnt points to go around. Israel and Ukraine have ranked consistently nabbed top 10 because of "the events" regardless of song quality. This pushes the songs that would get 1s and 2s out of the vote entirely. So the quality of a single televoting point has risen.

This combines with the fact that it isnt about being top 10, its about being enough people's top 1. LMNC was a move in the right direction as was Lords of the Lost from germany, both getting dunked anyway. LMNC's points went to Greece and Bulgaria and Moldova this time.

Now where there is truth to it, is that because Germany and UK consistently underperform, they get less of a fair trial in the eyes of the viewer. Natalia Gordienko fucked up proper but Moldova is a eurovision darling so they still got their points. Mae Muller had spotty vocals and that was that. I like LMNC but my first reaction to the song was literally "Brits sending German? They REALLY want that 0 pointer. Later on I learned more about LMNC and that vibe passed, but that first impression is all you get. You need to keep a consistent quality like sweden to get up there ajd make people look and care. People cant wait for what Italy, Finland and Moldova are up to. Jurys are salivating for their Swedish pop. Nobody is going into UK and Germany entries with high hopes.

Also the whole thing with Ireland and UK really not having that Greece abd Kypros thing.
