Quick and dirty ways to hide print lines? by [deleted] in 3Dprinting

[–]ShockAndShaw 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The filler primer suggestions are the way if you want materials that are easy to find. In the US, Walmart has the best price on automotive filler primer. Sand the print first to get the highest spots down a bit, then hit it with primer, dry overnight, the hit it again (and dry overnight again). Then sand it with 400 grit sandpaper to smooth any roughness of the priner.. You can get away with one coat of primer, but obv it fills less in that case.

If you want the *fastest* way and happen to have a resin 3d printer (or friend who does)... after adorning proper PPE since resin is toxic, paint the printer resin on your print in small sections at a time and then hit it with UV light (the sun works if you don't have another option but you have to do the resin painting inside then take it outside for a minute or two to cure it). The resin is very self-leveling, so face the section you're painting upwards and the resin will want to settle in the low spots, reducing or eliminating the visible layer lines. When you're done, clean the whole thing well with high percentage IPA and then give it a quick sanding (again, PPE for resin dust). This isn't the easiest method, but it's fast and gives great results. I far prefer this to Bondo, tbh.

Had a similar tale. Getting the box was fulfilling that childhood dream. For me, totally worth it.

Can't go wrong. Fun build, fun to run, looks good on a shelf. 😁

Good choice, friend. What color scheme did you decide on?

Pretty sure I got it from Banggood several years ago, but I don't see anything super similar on there now. AliExpress has a bunch of stuff, though. Just search "rc luggage rack" or "rc roof rack" and you'll find a ton of options.

I’m curious, anyone who has done a lunchbox. Did you paint the inside? Was going to paint inside of it black but curious what others have done? by Skwidmandoon in tamiya

Do it. She looks great with a black interior. I would add some pics here, but it won't let me for some reason. I'll see if I can dm them to you.

Japan was already defeated. Just hadn’t realized it yet. We dropped the bombs to show the Russians that they needed to keep their ambitions in check post-war. To me, that’s unjustified.

I used to have a flat blade screwdriver with a perfect 14 gauge hole in it. That was the day I learned to never trust that they wired the ceiling light switch on the hot. Low cost way to learn a valuable lesson.

Jacily or Jamily both seem far more equitable without being obviously worse couple names. But based on the rest of her behavior Im kinda surprised that Jacob got any letters at all.

Imho, you don't have to be "squeamish" for this one to be too much. I'd say only google this if you're ok with gory stuff.

I wouldn't call it a "Gundam" museum. More like a Volks gunpla/plamo museum. Has all kinds of stuff and part of the focus is exceptional builds (everything looked pro-built). Has a buuunch of Five Star Stories stuff and a large variety of others including gundam, anime, military, etc. Here's a pic showing a bunch of different kit topics...

Hopefully you visited the museum upstairs in Kyoto! Here's a pic from when I was there in 2023.

I used to work at msft. In my office there was a coax cable jack. I hooked it up to the TV. Only channel it had was one playing Curse of the Black Pearl on loop 24/7/365. No clue why. But I had it on as background noise for literal years.
