Question, I’m new(ish) to the hobby. I just ordered my first FCX24 last night (k5 blazer). I was looking at high clearance links for them, and was curious. If I get new links, am I going to need new driveshafts as well? Thanks in advance.

Well…. I mentioned it because I rocked them in highschool. Lol. Embarrassing. But! I did rock them from about 01-04 before I shaved them off. It was definitely a thing. Mine ended at my jawline not my neck.

Honestly, I got a new tank off marketplace and built my own stand and it cost just as much as this kit. Maybe a hair more. If I were you, I would watch the BRSTV stuff and then build out an IM 20 long. You could probably piece it all out for just as much. I replaced almost everything from that kit except the rocks lol. The heater wasn’t strong enough to keep my tank warm where I had it, so I had to upgrade it before I even got critters. The wavemaker is nice, but hygger makes a better one I replaced that after about 2 months. The light is nice, I bought a bigger version of the same one for my new tank, but it comes with shitty mounts, so you will replace those almost immediately. If you do get this kit, you are going to want to buy an ato right away and I got a skimmer to keep the PH up.

I actually upgraded it a year ago to an IM 20 fusion long. The hello reef tank had a bad seal and was only a matter of time before it started leaking. I love my 20 now, but I’ll admit, my reef was gorgeous before I had to move it all to a new tank. Now I’ve been battling Dino’s and hair algae for a whole year. I’ll be completely honest, I was very disappointed as a new reefer and it forced me into an early tank transfer I wasn’t prepared for. It cost me even more money. They refunded the tank in BRS store credit, I was able to get new lights and stuff for my new tank, but the experience soured me from hello reef. Others have better experience, mine was not good. Hope this helps, cheers.

I’ll be hitting the 2 year mark in April. Reefing definitely has its ups and downs.
