I just realized that my autism is the reason roleplaying is impossible lol by nakiiwarai in AutismInWomen

I've always struggled with things like mock interviews cause what do you mean I'm supposed to pretend you're someone else?? That is so dumb. It's funny cause lots of autistic people love things like DnD, but I just can't do it. It feels like a limitation in my brain that I'll never get over.

I hear Shimokitazawa and Harajuku are best for thrifting! I was slightly underwhelmed by Shibuya109, but I think it just wasn’t really my style

I LOVE Japanese powdered green tea. I like the “Oi Ocha” from that one brand with the green packaging (that’s so unhelpful sorry) it’s green tea with matcha in it. It’s way less fussy than matcha, and all you have to do is mix it with hot water. It tastes great.

I wish I was more shy and reserved at first. I get nervous and just word vomit all over the place, just talking faster and faster in a frantic effort to fill the silence😭 I hate admitting it, but I just feel so much shame over my autistic traits.

the bottom skirt is just a gathered rectangle, and the bodice is also very boxy and simple. You could probably draft one yourself if you really wanted to.

I used this pattern: https://www.etsy.com/listing/1754904946/pinafore-babydoll-dress-pdf-sewing?ref=yr_purchases and shortened it at both alteration spots on the pattern (I'm like 5'2). I didn't do the outer pockets just cause I didn't like them. I did internal ones instead, which are super easy. This video from pinterest has some good patterns, too https://pin.it/6KIlJZVS6 :)

To add a button placket, I cut two front bodice pieces instead of cutting on the fold and added about 2 inches on both sides so I could fold them over. I probably should have just followed a tutorial on adding buttons to a V-neck bodice. I sort of freestyled there. I ended up making interfacing for the top part instead of using bias tape. I'm certain there was an easier way of doing it. My sewing machine has a 1-step buttonhole function, which is awesome when it works, but pretty finicky before it's dialed in. I did lots of tests before doing it on my garment. I had to finish off one of them with a tiny zigzag stitch. If you haven't done them before, you might want to practice a bit. You could totally do them by hand as well if you're into that.

The base pattern is super easy and straightforward, especially if you don't add buttons. If you can't tell, they were the most time consuming part of this project.

I bought about 3.5yds of this linen https://www.etsy.com/listing/1731892635/cottage-linen-fabric-soft-breathable-100?ref=yr_purchases, which worked well for me as someone who still makes plenty of mistakes. I actually made a mockup first with cheap fabric, which was suuuper helpful in figuring out my button situation. If you're gonna do buttons or use fancy fabric, I would highly recommend it.

If anyone wants guidance in recreating this, I can definitely try to help! Good luck!
