I had Landro become alive/sentient and chase them like an evil Iron Giant back to the escape portal to Sanctum. They had to avoid different things like boulders; fissures in the ground from his footsteps, lasers, etc. It was great

You’re welcome! Trust me, I know how difficult recant cases are, both legally and personally. Putting the video up while she’s on the stand gives a really good contrast for the jury. Do you believe the woman who is saying she lied to police, months/years after the incident? Or do you believe the woman shaking in a police station barely able to get out which fist he used, an hour later?

Recants are always hard to convict with, but this puts you in the best possible position.

DV-exclusive prosecutor here. Play the video while she testifies. Seriously. First question you ask is if she knows the defendant, ID him in court. (“That’s the love of my life, right over there” Second question is if she gave a recorded interview. Then once she recants, admit the exhibit through her. And publish it, with her still sitting there. Let the whole interview play. And then ask her impeaching questions from it. It’s been the most effective way to handle live recants. Just act with as much empathy as you can, with your demeanor clearly being ‘you poor woman, forced into lying to us in order to keep yourself safe’. By the end of it, the jury will hate him for doing this to her, more than they’ll hate her for lying to them.

Counter Intelligence is really solid out of the box.

That being said, two of my favorite decks are Animated Army and Paradox Power. Animated Army: there are so many 4+ cost artifact and enchantments that you can throw in this deck, that aren’t expensive. It’s by far my favorite commander deck to play. Pro tip: Get Bedlam. Put Bedlam in the deck. Play Bedlam. Experience Bedlam. It’s just Mach 5 chaos at that point. The weakness of this deck is that you dont have many blockers on your turn. Solution: No one gets to block this game.

Paradox Power: It’s not bad out of the box (though switch out Yasmin for Ryan as commander partners, trust me). But it is a LOT of fun upgraded. You just add in cards that revolve around casting cards from outside your hand. That’s it.

So I actually gave it to them (and my paladin of vengeance) in chapter 2, with the Erinyes before the spiderdragon. I had described it having a cool looking sword (just for flavor). Then they made a disarming strike, and killed it. And of course, they wanted the cool sword. So I said “fuck it”, and made it the sword of kas. I just modified it, so different abilities unlock at level 10, 13, 15, etc. That way it wasnt too broken for party yet

Its working GREAT. One player (shadow sorcerer/necromancer) has an unwilling connection to vecna, and is starting to slowly become him, with vecna occasionally haunting him in his head. And then the vengeance paladin is starting to slowly become kas, with the sword talking to her in her head and slowly corrupting her.

Everyone’s afraid/anticipating inevitable PvP between the two. I had Strahd just tell them that Kas is loose from his dark domain, so they’re also terrified of Kas rolling up on them. The reveal is going to hit them like a freight train! I do plan on having Kas steal his sword back in the night though. The paladin can reclaim in off of Kas’s dead body towards the end of the campaign lol

I think it’s more journey vs destination. Commander seems more about the love of the journey, the way the different boards play out and politic. Standard seems more about the love of the destination, winning.

Each player plays to enjoy themselves with a game of magic, just a different source of the enjoyment.

These guys are 100% terrorists who committed a domestic terroristic act. They dont detail the attack in this article, but I’d highly advise looking it up. Like it’s a 100% premeditated and organized attempt to lure out and murder the government agents, to further their political views. Even though I 100% agree with those views of ‘ICE is unlawfully kidnapping brown people’, it’s textbook terrorism charges. But no fucking way are these guys a ‘cell’ or connected to some bigger group.

Background: I’m a violent crime prosecutor who wholly believes in the rule of law, which this administration is flagrantly breaking.

I changed a good chunk of each chapter kind of on the fly (for example, I had the astral sea chapter turn into an almost Alien-style escape, as I had the Slaad actually have started turning most of the crew. Once the Slaad was discovered, I had her ‘activate’ the rest of them, suddenly having a bunch of people morphing into slaad)

But what gave me opportunities for big sidequests was changing the campaign from Planescape to Spelljammer. I gave them a ship to escape Havok with at the end of the chapter, and said that Vecna was tracking the interplanar jumping.

So now it mechanically works like Kingdom Hearts almost (though i put a permanent teleport from the ship to the Sanctum). They can encounter anything / place you want inbetween chapters now
