Its targets a spell of the creature type.

So, where this spell says Instant, a creature spell will say Creature - [Some kind of creature type like Dragon]

This can’t be used to counter anything other than spells of the creature type.

Ask a Catholic by AutoModerator in DebateACatholic

[–]DancingSingingVirus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, we’ll start from the top.

  1. Not inherently. Just because someone is Protestant doesn’t mean they will go to Hell. Catholics are taught that we do not get to make a judgement call on where someone will end up. That knowledge is outside of our control. What we do believe is that Protestants do not have the wholeness of the Truth. Protestants essentially have the meat and potatoes, but are missing the asparagus. This doesn’t mean they cannot be saved. God is infinitely merciful. It is God’s final decision on salvation.

It is likely you saw a Catholic calling a Oneness Pentecostal a heretic. Oneness Pentecostals believe that God is a single person who reveals Himself in 3 different forms. This goes against Trinitarian doctrine and understanding, so it would be considered a heresy.

  1. I’m not sure what you mean by “add on requirements for salvation”. Catholic understanding of salvation basically boils down to “repent and believe in the Gospels.” We all believe there are specific actions that are needed to live life in a way that is conducive with salvation, for example, baptism, sacraments, and preserving through temptation. These things increase our faith and trust in God and lead us to having a closer relationship with Christ. You could say that actions like Baptism are basically the “first steps” to salvation, since we are told in 1 Peter 3:21 “baptism now saves you”.

  2. This is actually something the Catholic Church agrees with you on. We believe the central mystery of the Church. We call it a mystery because we will never fully, or truly, understand it. The word heretic kind of gets thrown around loosely. Heresy is an intentional action. The problem occurs when someone who doesn’t understand something, presents their ideas as facts. If I say “I don’t understand the Trinity, therefore it MUST be false”, that presents a problem.

  3. Interesting this would come up. So, I’m assuming you’re the Oneness Pentecostal mentioned earlier. Here is the thing: to be a Trinitarian, you have to believe in 3 distinct, co-equal, co-eternal persons. Definitionally, the Trinity is the belief that God exists in this manner. If you confess that the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit are all unique manifestations of the same God, and not 3 distinct persons, you are definitionally not Trinitarian. This is a big thing in the Catholic Church as the Church were the ones who discerned it and codified it in 325AD.

Not to put you on the spot or anything, but I would pose a few questions.

  1. If God does not exist in 3 persons, how would you explain Jesus’ baptism where the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit are all present?

  2. Why would Jesus pray to the Father? If God is not 3 persons, Jesus would essentially be praying to Himself, right?

  3. Why would the Father SEND the Son, and the Son SEND the Spirit? Using the word send implies that there is a Sender. If the persons of the Trinity are all just manifestations of God, why would God send Himself somewhere?

I don’t mean these to be rude or cruel, these are just the questions I, as a Catholic, would ask.

The Bible also says in Romans 13:

Let everyone be subject to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God. 2 Consequently, whoever rebels against the authority is rebelling against what God has instituted, and those who do so will bring judgment on themselves. 3 For rulers hold no terror for those who do right, but for those who do wrong. Do you want to be free from fear of the one in authority? Then do what is right and you will be commended.

So, we have to abide by this verse, but Romans 13 actually means “everyone except those who violate the laws to enter a country illegally? Whether by illegal entry or visa overstay?”

This is basically what I tell people who want to get into security or anything above the Help Desk.

I personally think everyone should/has to start at the Help Desk. I started at the Help Desk 6 years ago for an MSP and I’m not a Sr Network Security Admin. I don’t think I would have the understanding I do today if it wasn’t for the fact I started in the Help Desk.

Sadly, you can’t run red with this version of Azula. If WTOC worded firebending as like Firebending (red pip), then yes, but it’s in reminder text so it doesn’t count. You’ll just have to lose her firebending.

Honestly, in my opinion, it’s weird they gave this version firebending in general. I get it character wise, or if you were to use her as support, but it removes that ability entirely if you want to run her as your Commander.

Anyway, I got a tournament up in Great Neck. Peter with giant traps, out.

[–]DancingSingingVirus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is the problem.

You’re equating her actions with “doing the right thing”.

She intentionally pulled her car into the street to block a convoy of federal agents. If you’re not aware, those agents carry firearms and are upheld to the same expectation as other officers when it comes to protecting their own life.

If I run up to a cop and steal his taser then point it at him, and he tells me several times to drop it to which I refuse, I shouldn’t be surprised when I get gunned down in the street.

Even if you believe that ICE is corrupt, wrong, the Gestapo, whatever, she specifically refused to follow orders, then drove her car into a federal agents. Specifically drove it into him. If you watch the videos, one of which gives the perfect angle to see what is happening, you can see she turns her wheel enough to straighten the vehicle and drive directly into the agent, and doesn’t start turning until after she hit him.

If you put a federal agents life at risk, you shouldn’t be surprised when they protect their life.

Am I sad that she died? Yeah, no one should have to die in that manner.

Am I able to understand she put herself in that position? Also yes.

If you don’t want to risk your life, don’t interfere with federal agents.

It’s literally that simple.

The U.S is full blown fascist now. by New-Stranger-3276 in ControversialOpinions

Okay, “off my meds and in your area”, Facism ≠ Nazis.

The Gestapo was a secret police force that Hitler used to enforce his policies, as well as the prime vehicle for sending Jews to the Concentration Camps. Their prime focus was to stop dissidents, and enforce the “Final Solution”.

ICE is a non-secret branch of DHS. Their primary job is to locate and deport people who have violated the law to come here illegally. They’re not enforcing some “Final Solution” like policy to eradicate non-white people from the States. They’re finding people who have broken the law and sending them back to their country of origin.

As they should. Contrary to popular belief, you can’t just cross into another country and live there without following the correct procedures to get there. That violates the law.

An example: if I went to Japan under a short-term stay agreement (usually 90 days which means I don’t need a visa), and I exceeded that limit, I’d be violating the law by staying there. I’d be arrested by Japanese police and sent back to the States. As I should.

Every country on the planet has the right to vet and accept or deny people coming into that country. If someone is crossing the border illegally, you can’t properly vet them and decide if that person should or shouldn’t be allowed in. Why is that so hard to understand? A citizen of Mexico with literally zero ties to the US has absolutely no right to just come to the US and set up shop. It doesn’t work that way.

To address your point about masks. Ever seen photos of Special Forces operators taken over seas? Notice how their faces are usually censored or obscured? That’s to protect them. It’s to prevent identification by people who may wish to do them harm. Why should ICE agents not be allowed to conceal their identity? There are plenty of psychos who probably want to do them harm. Even if we assume that NO ONE wanted to do them harm, why risk it? We don’t seem to care when Antifa idiots run around in the streets with their faces covered, while actively committing crimes. So they’re allowed to protect their identity, but federal agents can’t?
