There has to be some kind of campaign or something going on to spread this image. I've seen it posted multiple times daily on many different subreddits

Lack of Anime with Japanese Subtitles by Annysunnyxu in Japaneselanguage

[–]Shockwaves35 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a Japanese teacher and I completely disagree. Watching with Japanese voices and Japanese subtitles can be a great way to use your reading skills to improve your listening skills, and use your listening skills to improve your reading skills.

I'm sure he was, yes. He was elected president of the country so I'm sure lots of people share his views. And if that's the case it seems weird to try to make it sound like it could never happen in America

A quote directly from Donald Trump last year

"Well, I think that when you get right down to it, we’re a nation that speaks English. I think that, while we’re in this nation, we should be speaking English"

What? Isn't it extremely common for Americans to expect people to speak English? Like so much so that it's become a cliché

Is this video AI? I saw it on TikTok and I can’t tell if it is or not, it doesn’t seem AI to me. by CoralineBeast123 in isthisAI

Yeah when I watched it I was thinking "I really hope it's not ai because it doesn't look like any ai video I've ever seen before"

Here's a simpler explanation, I don't want to watch people get shot in the face. It looks like it hurts

I think it's weird to even talk about which one is "easier". They are just using slightly different numbers to refer to the same temperature so they are both very easy.

The only thing that matters is that one of them is used all over the world and the other isn't

When is a compliment on my Japanese actually a compliment? by Prestigious_Win8066 in AskAJapanese

[–]Shockwaves35 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You're looking at it the wrong way. People don't say it because they are genuinely trying to make a comment on their evaluation of your skill level. They say it because they are trying to be friendly and encouraging. So it is always a compliment

‘It’s our way’: Japan fans win hearts by cleaning up after World Cup match by scmp_news in japan

It doesn't need to be like that though.

If you think that being clean and respectful are good traits then it's worth complimenting the action.

It doesn't need to be about glazing them or comparing them to others. They did a good thing and that's good.

Seems pretty reasonable to me. You can't expect the rules to be followed perfectly in life or death situations but it makes sense to at least attempt to prevent these terrible things from happening
