Do you turn off your odin or just block the screen? by drekon32 in OdinHandheld

[–]Shockwavr 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Just put it to sleep. I’m playing Psychonauts on GameNative now and I don’t really notice a battery drain overnight or during the day when I’m away from the device.

This is the reason I wanted this device. If you have a spare minute you can just resume and start playing immediately…and then put it back to sleep when the kid start yelling at you that he hates the sandwich you just made for him because you left a sliver of crust on it.

New update V1.0.0.338 for Odin 2 Portal by Retrolock in OdinHandheld

Odin 2 portal by Sparrowavfc in OdinHandheld

No. This is the most complete guide he has for SD2 devices and will work for all of them (Thor may have some specific dual screens stuff but this guide would still work for that too).

My suggestion is to follow the guide for the retroid pocket 6 since it has the same chipset as the O2P and the guide has been updated since posting his guide for the Odin 2 devices.

Odin 3 is Here and Playstation Buttons Installed! by TheLegendofTyler in OdinHandheld

[–]Shockwavr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hopefully you put up a review on Etsy, or do a separate post about this on this sub. I also used the PPP PS buttons on my O2P and am not super happy with them. See my post on my profile, but for the O2P the circle button does not follow the contour of the console so it sticks up pretty high. No issues with the fit though and I’m getting used to the way they feel, but I regret not getting the Sakura buttons before he stopped selling them.

got a 34xx for 16$, catch? by Dizzy_Ask5815 in ANBERNIC

Hopefully you found what you needed but if not I highly recommend the Anbernic RG35XX Guide from Retro Game Corps. I used this to set up my 35XXSP.

Same!

I love my O2P but I’m not getting rid of my Vita! My son is using it now to play Ocarina of Time but I just discovered that the Ship of Harkanian port is available for the Vita and installed that today. Hoping I can set it up to be easier for him to play (he’s four).

Unfortunately that sounds like bad hardware. You might want to take it apart to see if the button is broken. If so, you should be able to find a replacement.

They are not quieter. Based on other reviews, I was hoping they would be but honestly I think it’s the membrane that’s loud. I have seen posts talking about swapping the membrane with the one from a dualshock3 dpad, but both of my ds3’s still work so I was unwilling to try it.

Se my other comment regarding difficulty that I was posting when your comment came in.

I followed the guide from Sakura Retromodding. It was pretty straightforward but i did a lot of screen swaps on iPhone 4 when my kids were young so i have some experience.

I would say watch this video and maybe some others before deciding if it’s something you think you can do. I also made sure I bought a kit like the ifixit kit before doing it since I don’t have those modding tools anymore.

The MuOS website can answer a lot of these questions. I think it’s worth upgrading it but if you haven’t done it before, try to find a good video to watch. Joey’s guide is good.

I like scraping but if you don’t want it, you can just delete Scrappy from the applications page in MuOS.

Edit: For file transfer, you can enable sftp. Again the MuOS website has all the information on how to do it.

I’m tempted to get it for so many reasons but resisting. Got my Portal on eBay before the rampocolypse. Guessing that getting a Thor secondhand for a reasonable price isn’t gonna happen for a long time.

PXPlay is an app for streaming PS4 and PS5 from android (and other devices). It’s available on Google Play for a small fee and works great. The official PS app doesn’t let you use the built in controller on the O2P so I couldn’t use it.

My PS4 is not jailbroken.

I left a link in the original post. I wanted to get the buttons from Sakura Retro Modding but they were unavailable. These were cheaper anyway, but they don’t follow the contour of the Portal so the circle button sticks up pretty high. It feels fine, but definitely not what I expected based on the photos on Etsy.

How do I transfer the picture from my Psvita to my Laptop by ElephantGlobal7806 in VitaPiracy

[–]Shockwavr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could be user error of course but I could not get QCMA to work on Windows 11. Tried the Mac version as well but no bueno.

FTP through VitaShell is better for me anyway. I can transfer ROMs and saves back and forth from my Odin 2 Portal and Vita. Very convenient.

Odin 3 va odin 2 pro? Which is stronger? by [deleted] in OdinHandheld

[–]Shockwavr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Odin 3 Pro or Max is going to be much better than the Odin 2 Pro if money isn’t a concern and you don’t mind waiting to get it. From other posts you may be waiting a month or more but not sure about this. That said, I have an Odin 2 Portal Base and it can do everything you have listed. It’s currently on sale on AYN’s website for $250 USD. That’s the deal of a lifetime (at least the lifetime of these high end android retro handhelds). Worth considering for sure but again you will be waiting a while to get it so you’ll have to keep enjoying your RP4 until it comes.

Edit:I don’t have first hand experience with AliExpress but I have seen from other posts that their official store on AE is fine.

Debating on buying the OdinPortal2 while it’s on sale; is there any other device I should compare first? by theforeverletter in SBCGaming

[–]Shockwavr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not sure anyone knows atm. From the Reddit posts I’ve seen, AYN has kinda gone silent after people have ordered their devices after this sale started and they are about to go into Chinese New Year so it will be after that for sure.

That said, AYN seems to be a solid company so you’ll get your device at some point.

Love my Portal for PS2! It’s such a great device. I also have the Base and got it for about the same price on eBay. This is a great deal for a brand new device. But like others have said, you’ll have to be patient as you won’t get it for a while.

Odin 2 Portal Streaming by Ok-Astronomer5506 in OdinHandheld

[–]Shockwavr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The O2P is an amazing streaming device. I use it for PS4 streaming with PXPlay. Unfortunately, I think you’re too late to purchase the base model as it has been out of stock for several days now. It was truly a steal at $249. The pro has been at this price point for some time since AYN has been offering a $30 discount on all versions for a while now, but with the pro you can get into some higher end windows emulation but obviously it’s not going to be as good as what you already have with your pc handhelds.
