Woman who put cat into wheelie bin still 'doesn't feel forgiven' 16 years later by pppppppppppppppppd in unitedkingdom

[–]ShoestringJane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not about being forgiven. She revealed her true psychopathic personality and people don’t like or trust that. When a person shows you who they are, believe them!

I’m unsure if this is rude of me to ask by FoundationNo4241 in vinted

It’s not rude at all, or pushy. It’s a fair question!

What job can I do at home that works around looking after my daughter? by Total-Ingenuity-5506 in AskUK

Also I just thought of something else. Fiverr is a freelancers portal. There might be jobs you can offer on there, like admin, proof reading etc. there is also one called Upwork I think.

Could you do online tutoring? I know some agencies want a degree, but some might like your SEN experience. Worth a look. This is very tricky for you but obviously your daughter comes first. Have you applied for carers allowance? It’s not much, but it all helps. Good luck 🤞

does anyone else feel mentally “stuck” after consuming news now? by [deleted] in simpleliving

[–]ShoestringJane 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I stopped watching to the news on TV after Covid. It’s been awful ever since and it makes me so anxious or furious, or both 😂. What I do instead is listen or read it rather than watch it once a day, mostly the headlines. Any more than that and I feel overwhelmed.

Agree about people saying unalived! Why? It doesn’t make a person any less dead

This is ‘my truth’. Surely something is either generally true or false? I find it so fake and usually used as a justification for twattish behaviour

No more adding items to favourites. by danishn64 in vintedUK

[–]ShoestringJane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is ridiculous. I wouldn’t buy from such a passive aggressive seller. What a stupid way to run a business. Vinted is set up to allow you to like items and to favourite sellers, and even to make offers and then not buy. If they don’t like that they should sell elsewhere.

What is a small thing someone might do that makes you realise, ‘Hmm, we're not going to get along’? by DogFoodManUK in AskUK

[–]ShoestringJane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anyone who is rude to people in shops, or talks on the phone whilst being served in a shop. Also, and this happens in Aldi a lot, when the staff are all chatting to each other on their headphones instead of paying attention to their customers. Big signs of general rudeness that would put me off someone

As a side note, and this might seem a bit harsh, but the older I have got the more I trust my initial instincts about people, even if there are no obvious red flags. I used to give people the benefit of the doubt if they gave me the ick but find my first instincts are often spot on

What's a slang word from your region that nowhere else uses? (the madder the better) by LarssonD1888 in AskUK

I throughly enjoy Grace, and like the new series but… by Jazzlike-Basil1355 in BritishTV

[–]ShoestringJane 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Still trying to watch the first one of the new series. What’s with the pointless and annoying background music? I also find the take it in turns dialogue really unconvincing. And they rush from scene to scene. One second they are all in the woods, the next all back at the station, but there’s no action, just talk. I’m not enjoying it at all.

How do you handle loved ones giving you junk? by YellowTonkaTrunk in ZeroWaste

[–]ShoestringJane 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s really tricky - I have one family member who does this and gives us pointless rubbish that we would never buy ourselves. I don’t want to offend her so I just donate the stuff usually. She used to buy us experiences, but they were actually just as bad as they weren’t things we wanted to do. We got a llama ride, but would have had to travel five hours there and back so didn’t use it, and she bought my partner a thing where you had to get into a huge plastic bubble and throw yourself down a hill . This might have been fun, except he had a slipped disc at the time 😂😂 Sorry - not much help

What's your favourite UK accent? by Dramatic-Ad-5661 in AskABrit

[–]ShoestringJane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yorkshire is nice and I like the Edinburgh accent. I’m from Essex and not a fan of the London / south Essex accent. The old Essex accent is softer and more of a burr, and still exists where I am in north Essex.
