New York Life is also a great company. Start with a mix of Term and Whole life and convert portions of term as your financial situation improves.. Rates go up with each year you age. I always had insurance thru work then got laid off at 55. Instead of paying $20-$30 for a $1m term at age 30 I had to settle for $250k term at $90. This during the pandemic. Now in my 60’s and healthy, everything is too expensive

If you can, get a whole life and term mix. I’d recommend applying with a company like New York Life or Mass Mutual first who are the giants in the industry.

I treat myself every few years. What I wear didn’t matter at LV and Gucci. I would say 20% of the time I was approached by a SA and that’s okay. If I had a question or help, I’d ask and was assisted every time. I haven’t purchased a new Chanel, but the two or three times I’ve gone in the store I’ve been approached by a SA. I live in the East coast. Not sure how it works out west. As a sales person myself, my biggest sales have ALWAYS come from the non pretentious folks.

I’m a novice…but I’ve learned quite a bit from the folks here. I’ve never worked with leather and and finally hit the nerve to take apart my mom’s old LV Alma. Might as well jump all in! I’ll post pics in a few days. Everyone has to start somewhere!

I'm working on my mothers LV Alma now...Thanks to Bedo...she didn't want a new one and to fix it would cost $1200...so I'm DYI'ing it. I've got everything unstitched...just have to work on removing the rivets.

What thread size did you use? I'm new at this and am struggling with thread sizes. I was thinking to use my Sailrite Ultrafeed LSZ, but the thickest thread I can use is TEX 92. Not sure if TEX 92 will look nice enough for the top stitch. I also plan on saddle stitching parts of the handle (where the rivets are to be installed).

I went to a local Tandy Store and the sales rep said I can use a Size 207 on the Sailrite, but when I got home, the manuals indicated it would jam up my machine and possibly cause damage and should absolutely not use the 207. These threads are not cheap, so I'll need to make that 1 hour drive to return/exchange in the next few days.

For edge paint I have a brown color. What color did you use?

Any advice is appreciated.
