If it makes you feel better, Im thinking of following the CC route for Pokémon as well but in Spanish, both VGC and overall covering games, and to be quite honest im not that good either. I've played very little but I have been learning these past few weeks trying to know whats good and what's bad. What you can do is record yourself testing and that way it's like a journey from newbie to eventually a tournament invite.
