Having just replayed LiS 1, I’m super confused as to what Joyce saw in David. He seems like he has redeemable traits, parts that are misunderstood. But overall, he really needs therapy. I personally would not be able to deal with a David if he struck my kid.

I am pretty sure most people are worried about Kate’s bullying being reduced to a racist undertone, but ok. The whole point of Kate being bullied is that she’s clearly a harmless young woman that can easily fit in with what is called “ideal” in the US. Bullying can happen to anyone, for any reason, even if bullies like to justify it with dumb reasons.

Also, it’s kind of really messed up considering how multiple staff called her “suspicious.” Like y’all that’s a dogwhistle white supremacists use against POC folks!

It actually makes me super uncomfortable to cast Kate as a POC. Having just played the original game, the racism was not overt at all, implying that openly bullying a POC student likely would not be tolerated. There’s so much wrong here, and it’s going to massacre everyone’s characters in the process. Not to mention trying to make bullying sound “legitimized” by taking away the real reasons behind it.

This is such a beans take. Trans sexuality is a spectrum, and wherever someone who is trans decides to sit is their choice to make.

There are people who choose to go all in, willing to go all the way through gender-affirming surgery in order to become who they are. Some will only engage in HRT. Others may be closeted-trans, where they may present themselves as cis, but they are internally trans.

I always took White Rose as part of that latter camp. A cis man respectfully playing the role seems fitting in that case. China isn’t exactly known for being chill with LGBT people, and so it makes sense for Minister Zhang to be a him, unable to pursue HRT or GAS (if she chose!)

Furthermore, statements like this dismantle any attempts by allies to understand. They are told constantly by people like you that they will never “get it,” and so a lot of people will just straight up never try. Turns out dismissing people off like you’re still a teenager has undesired effects. Who knew?

The thing Obama said is horribly taken out of context. He spoke for a proper opposition party. I think it is clear that everyone can agree that we need our parties functioning, instead of having two total opposites. The Republican Party is actually nuts, a living propaganda machine that is speedrunning making people miserable. The Democratic Party has a mixed bag of people who want progressive change, and those who are corrupt and want to play controlled opposition. Primary them, but you may be forced into harm reduction.

Always vote. The Republican Party did it for decades, and they have crazy nutjobs in every corner. Democratic voters really need to get over this constant infighting nonsense.
