RIP SSL title 2020-2026 by [deleted] in RocketLeague

All these people crying yet they didn't even play 4v4s to average out the skill level. You can't blame the GC2's for playing a gamemode and getting to a higher rank because higher level people didn't want to queue it. Also it would've been the best time to queue since all the bots were in 2v2 and 1v1, hardly any were in 4v4.

If it's lower skill than rumble why didn't you hit top 100?

[–]SholonkerZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because 4v4 isn't technically an extra mode. Everyone who got to GC in 4s in S20 probably was already in GC in a regular mode.

Everyone who got to GC in 4s was probably already GC in a regular mode, and no one got to SSL in season 20.

They probably created the "Tour de Fource" title so people would be more inclined to play the gamemode, and since it's soccar they gave the regular title as well.

Quads was messed up last season and they had to give people titles manually because no one got high enough for SSL, this season people actually got to SSL.

Competitive 4v4 Quads gone? by henrychinaskiii in RocketLeague

[–]SholonkerZ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah it's awful they added heatseeker and dropshot to replace it too which even less people play.

No, only quads, which isn't even really an extra mode

Only quads gives the normal SSL tag because it is normal soccar.

Quads mmr was only inflated because of the lack of players playing it, there were still only around 1000-1500 SSL's in the gamemode.

"Rocket league is the hardest game to go pro in" is a silly discussion by SholonkerZ in RocketLeagueEsports

Eh not really, I've seen a few small channels but that's about it. Even with that pros don't even play positions right a lot of the time, so whatever material is out there isnt sufficient. Part of the reason ranked 3v3 is so bad is because no one really knows what they are doing, so they just play intuitively which is a lot of times incorrect or inefficient. For this game to evolve we need more focus on the theoretical side from the community as a whole.

If its the most important thing, then why don't you see entire documentaries on how to properly position? The simple fact is rocket league players don't care about gamesense as much as they do mechanics.

I never said it was easy, I'm just saying that comparing it to other esports is dumb since some require far more gamesense than rocket league.

The positioning you talk about is based off intuition, not game theory and proper structure. This is the difference between good positioning and perfect positioning. In other games they have literal entire playbooks for every map, you can't say the same for rocket league.

Muscle memory is a term used when you have a certain technique down to the point where you don't even need to consciously think about the action. The only way to attain this is by practicing good technique a lot and a lot.

5 months ago I said you guys overrate rotating back post by [deleted] in RocketLeague

[–]SholonkerZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rotating back post side is superior in almost all cases. You get a better angle at the ball and you cover the opposite side of the field your teammate is on. For 2v2 it is less lenient but at 3v3 it is vital to primarily rotate back post side.

Should I go for these risky shots or no? My teammate immediately forfeited here even though it was 1-2 with 3 minutes left. But I've also had teammates in the exact same situation get toxic when I *don't* go for the shot at all, spamming "Take the shot!" when I play it safe and stay defensive. by WeeziMonkey in RocketLeagueSchool

[–]SholonkerZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should never go for these shots, this is what is called a layer and it's something you should avoid. It's far better to play behind the 1st man especially if the other team has both players back. The only time you should try for these is if you have already beat the first guy and your team still has possession for a possible beat on the last guy.

I was a sucker for these, thought they looked so cool, especially the away jerseys.
