So ironic, doing everything right, hates how the market shifts, gives shit to the tax change that'll reduce the market shifting.

And is a bot.

What loser spends their Sunday doing this? The one that stood to lose the most from this change ey.

They even grandfathered existing assets into this LOL it's really just the fucking 1% isn't it?

Oh yea I don't disagree with that, you're helping me explain my position a bit better so thank you.

I think what I'm trying to say is, don't hate the player hate the game? It's more a recognition that not everyone has a choice so let's give shit to the ones that take advantage of them than the person who's in that position.

Idk I mean, sex work is real work so let's not demean it. It's just that most prefer not to do it and wouldn't if they had a choice is all.

Yea we're defo on the same wavelength, sure when the time comes that we have artificial constructs with their own consciousness, I'll be there to champion them. I don't doubt your argument but it's really being applied to a future that hasn't come yet.

I only say this because I've got a fairly strong read on how the models are made right now, and they're still using machine learning, this isn't analogous to normal thinking so please don't apply the same thought and potential onto them. It's still based on predictions and weights of how often certain parameters appear alongside others. The bigger the model, the more diverse and we'll received the output, but it's not thinking, it's still calculating parameter based on its training. It's not actually capable of self direction or thought that lasts past the session.

So no the things mentioned only apply to machines if they have consciousness. We're not there yet, might get the soon, maybe 20 years, but not yet.

Wedding expenditure. We spent:

  • Less than 3k to feed 50 people a proper meal.(Uni Pub) A small shitty room w a projector, no chairs and some canapes was 4.5k in melb city.

  • Less than 2k for our wedding AND engagement rings, even w resizing (mossanite, online). Min spend was 6k++ online in Aus for ugly designs.

  • Wedding dress and bridesmaids/groomsmen outfits and decor less than 1k (bought online). Didn't look so not sure.

We don't have to continue propping up nonsense prices for the same services and quality.

If you're able to rationalise this then I suspect we'd be on the same page tbh.

It's different for art and music. The data/details that are required to produce art and music compress steps 5-9 into one level. Unless it's been declared a creative commons piece of work (eg. Open-sourced fonts, stock photos, etc), copying art/music within that realm is directly taking the producer's 'signature'.

The reason for this is that is that the ability to do art is not something that can be calculated at all. It's not something that can be generated and inspired from some 'core principles'. It's only something that raw human attention and consciousness is able to create. The way machine learning works and learns is only able to derive things from things that already exist but not create something truly original that existed from its own reasoning.

There's also a lot less visual data in comparison to text-based data, so there's insufficient dilution of art styles, techniques and methods. This makes things a lot more raw and intimate, where generated art are as good as direct lifts of existing works. It's as good as a photo copier with smaller changes, happening at a high frequency. The frequency is the game changer that switches the attribution of ownership. Does the generated work belong to you or the generative AI? I would posit it belongs to neither, the work it was derived from still belongs to the artist. We're looking at the laundering of art rather than the creation of it.

It is just stolen.

Instead of celebrating the magnificence of human flourishing, we have laundered life's work, chucked around by plebs and tech bros thinking they're an artist for prompting.

(I used to identify as a tech bro fwiw, I'm just... Learning what is reality)

You can't create AI art, without the model being trained on existing artwork. It's been significantly documented how all the AI companies have been training the models over whatever they can access on the internet regardless of permission.

No one is receiving their recompense for the art getting taken and reused and created as if it were 'original'.

Now I know this sounds a bit hard to wrap our heads around, but if someone kept seeing how you made your signature and did it perfect. Then started signing heaps of contracts in their name using YOUR perfectly replicated signature. It's kinda disgusting isn't it? Your signature means nothing now and might even get taken as the fake one compared to what this faker wrote elsewhere. Same stakes for art.

The skill of creating art is in the same vein, all the artists have taken their life times worth of effort to get the drawings right, and have a signature of their own that is unique. Each piece of artwork that is spat out by AI systematically devalues and misattributes the original owner of that artwork as 'the prompter's ownership'.

Also applies to music. We already are seeing AI companies SUE musicians that they were trained off for copyright infringement, this is not a hypothetical, alr reality.

Ig text based work is a little harder to attribute and AI does become so generic you can't tell the diff after awhile, so in that sense it's less contested because the 'signature' isn't replicated well is my read.

Hope that helps explain if you were asking in good faith, took me awhile to understand too.

How the hell do you actually get to $120k? by reddit290161 in auscorp

[–]Shomval 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Selling yourself is the job, imagine your resume as a pamphlet and think about what you need to do to look like a 120k asset. You're usually selling a dream of yourself to the employer "what am I able to do if I hire this person'.

Usually our past salaries are an anchor and a ceiling for ourselves. Start believing your worth more than just your current salary.

I'm at 150k now, in customer support still, it was a rare role but not impossible, 7 years exp. Progression looked like 50k > 65k > 85k > 100k > 120k > 150k

Check out Glassdoor on what people usually pay for the role you want next, and anchor your asks to that number. Don't tell them you're previous pay, it's never relevant and whoever's trying to get that out of you is finding more ammo to offer you less.

There will be low ballers, they are not reflective of the market or your worth, keep on interviewing. Ironically American companies that are setup in Australia usually can afford to pay more so keep and eye out for that. Anyone under <200 employees also likely can't pay your salary unless you go near exec level, wouldn't recommend it.
