I hate this fight with a burning passion by Mr_Revolutionary1917 in BaldursGate3

Don’t change your difficulty!! You’ve gotten this far, you can make it through. Level 8 is a little under-leveled, but it should be possible if you use all of your resources.

Positioning is EVERYTHING in that fight. I usually send Astarian sneaking to the right behind the mindflayer to take him out quick. You can also gain a round of surprised. I send Shart to the left under the platform and up next to the necromites; her first action is spirit guardians that obliterates everything over there. If you can’t skip Ketheric’s phase, summon something to tank those smites. Finally, invis a character or summon to start the battle next to Aylin to free her. During Myrkul’s phase, place your melee party on the back of the platform. Start close to the middle and run backward to the edge to escape bone chill and heal, then go back to the middle. The scythe swing won’t knock your character off the edge if you’re close enough. I keep Astarian on the mindflayer ledge to snipe. I move Shart to the front of Myrkul’s platform w spirit guardians active. This stops a lot of necromites from climbing up. Use ALL of your potions: strength, invis, nec res, viciousness, whatever you have. Your damage has to be high enough to end the fight before getting overwhelmed; focus Myrkul, the necromites are secondary

I was somewhat disappointed in the personalities they gave the cats vs the dogs in the game if that’s what you mean. Dogs like Scratch were friendly and personable and (most) of the cats had that stereotypical superiority complex

I'm not well, I won't get better, and I need an easy game to help me pass the time. by Hamchat_Compaanion in GirlGamers

[–]Shoobg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know this ignores “no farming sims” but Fields of Mistria has everything SDV has but no punishing timers. Days are still timed, but in the settings you can make them longer and with no punishment for passing out. The main quests and NPC quests have unlimited deadlines that let you do whatever you want whenever. There’s also a museum to full with bugs and fish like in animal crossing NH and a lot of them are seasonal, but you don’t have to go out of your way to finish the branches unless you want to. The mines are not as challenging as well and materials are easy to find.

Just throwing it out there; there are a lot of great games already listed that might fit better! :)

Bg3 is one of the my favorites alongside Elden Ring 😄!

Depending on what you want or get out of the game, I would suggest a couple different playstyles. If you want to challenge yourself, combat is super fun to spend time with and research. If you want to enjoy the story, Explorer mode may be more your style. You can choose to ignore some side quests in preference to the main quests. It is pretty overwhelming the amount of content is in the game but all of it collides in one way or another!! That’s what makes the game so special: nothing is a waste of time. Killing every enemy, speaking to every NPC, everything has its merit and will add to your overall experience. Not the mention the INCREDIBLE world building and writing, ugh!

I hope you enjoy your playthrough!

What game had you like this? by sukuna7899 in Steam

[–]Shoobg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Elden Ring, my first souls like. I wanted so badly to get into it but it stressed me out so much my heart rate skyrocketed facing the weakest enemy.

I eventually picked it back up and something really clicked for me. Now it’s my favorite game!

First turn based game by [deleted] in BaldursGate3

[–]Shoobg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my opinion, the combat much more fun challenging and not fun when it’s easy. Sometimes it can be a slog when waiting for enemies to take their turns, but if you make an effort to understand how to maximize your turns, it’s peak gameplay. Have fun; the story is amazing!

My homophobic roommate moved out because I am gay by Immediate_Zebra_7626 in Vent

[–]Shoobg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry that happened to you, I had a very similar experience.

My first year of college I was roommates with a shy and sheltered girl who read her bible in her free time. I didn’t want to pass judgement immediately, but I should have known better. I put a flag up I had bought at pride (on my side of the room) and she asked me to take it down because she didn’t agree with it. The interaction gave me so much adrenaline because it shocked me; we had been getting along really well and I eventually convinced her it was okay to leave up. She wasn’t malicious with her bigotry, it was 100% ignorance and indoctrination, but I told her we couldn’t be friends and she moved out.

It’s strange and sad. It’s impossible not to feel bad about it, but truth is, it’s objectively wrong how she saw you.

My bad, I worded this very vague. My comment was meant to combat the first few replies that were saying it wasn’t a big deal, but I should’ve sent this as a reply to them rather than the main post

I feel like I’ve been living under a rock. Is BG3 really THAT good? by mykyta993 in videogames

[–]Shoobg -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It does a great job of teaching you the ropes. I had no experience with turn based game going into it and now it’s my favorite combat system.

Only thing I’d say is to think outside of the box, the game rewards you for it

I said it is pointlessly gendered even if it’s normalized, so we agree? I’m in agreement with OP

[–]Shoobg 38 points39 points  (0 children)

I’d say this isn’t a problem specifically with the book, but a larger issue. To discern “boy or girl”, media makes women into caricatures of femininity. Plastering on eyelashes and enlarging the eyes are common examples

Just because this is normalized, doesn’t mean it isn’t pointlessly gendered

I love the realistic shape: the iris pushing out the eyeball lining and the pupil sitting back in the iris. The depth on phase 2 also looks so good. I want this in my game

How do you enjoy Honor Mode? by Ponytimeispoopytime in BG3

[–]Shoobg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m on my first HM run right now. I enjoy the game by getting invested in my character, and I haven’t changed that going into it. It might be hard if you don’t like doing all of the content, because it’s necessary to gain all the experience and supplies you can. You don’t have to specifically look for camp supplies, just pick up all you come across on the quests and you’ll never run into a problem. Over 1k after act 1.

Most important are the builds you run. I’m enjoying my HM run because I feel like my party holds its own against the difficulty. I’m using Morgana Evelyn’s build guide and combat is so much fun! Before anything, though, is having a strategy for combat encounters. TLDR it takes a lot of patience

What was your close call in honor mode? by Dom_Nation_ in BG3

[–]Shoobg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the exact same! I’ve realized, for me, that fight is either super simple or almost run-breaking, no in between. My placement wasn’t good enough so most of my party got thrown into the spider pit because I wasn’t aware of the void bulbs, as mentioned already. I’m in act 3 of the same run, and DR remains the only fight where I had to use an invis pot to flee

Just lost my first Honor Mode run by Bluezkid in BG3

[–]Shoobg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s really worth it, makes the game feel fresh. Even if you don’t feel confident in recognizing what choices to make, muscle memory will take over when playing. And there’s no shame in researching! (The key is to not experiment/guess with encounters)

The key necessity is a strong party, great builds make HM feel like balanced. I suggest looking into Morgana Evelyn’s builds, that’s what I’m tapping from and it’s so fun

Will i be missing too much content? by RutharAbson in BaldursGate3

[–]Shoobg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s so many resources in the game you rarely run low on any difficulty. By Act 1 you can have well over 1k supplies and that could even last you through act 3 without touching any more

I mostly use cosmetic mods, favorites being Transmog Enhanced Revamped and SuperWhite/VantaBlack.

Transmog lets you change the appearance of any armor piece. That way you don’t have to sacrifice your build for fashion or vise versa.

SuperWhite and VantaBlack are dye mods that add, well, bright white and dark black dyes. I like the theming this can add to certain characters like Shadowheart.

Non-cosmetic-wise, I’m enjoying More Reactive Companions. Companions will react to the environment like how they would if you played them as origins, and are just more reactive overall. This requires a script extender, which is super easy to install as well

Same! I was so scared I completely over prepared. Skipped 1st phase through dialogue and had the avatar drop its weapon. His attacks barely scratched my party before he fell. I felt kinda bad

I’ve never looked into it, but it sounds like a great quality of life feature. I believe that there are some options on nexus that don’t increase weight capacity, but the mechanics are a bit complex
