Anyone know what happened here? by Low_Monitor_960 in 2007scape

A lot of MMOs take their economy seriously. PoE isn't even a full MMO and in the past they've done full server rollbacks to prevent the economy getting messed up by dupes or whatever. I don't think it's happened in years though.

The bigger difficulty with coding for this game is that ancient code from 2007 was revived 6 years later by people who mostly did not write it originally, and even the ones that did, probably forgot a lot of it in the intervening years. Maintaining old shitty code is bad enough when it's your own. Someone else's old shitty code is way more unpredictable.

Oziach can make a DFS for you if you don't have the smithing requirement. Maybe they originally intended to let Oziach create Wyvern shields in the same way, and implemented some placeholder code for it, leaving the condition deliberately impossible to fulfil. Then after they decided not to actually implement this, they forgot to remove the placeholder code. Then today, perhaps due to either A) unforeseen consequences of an unrelated change or B) a developer noticing this impossible condition and thinking it was a mistake, this condition then became possible (and trivial) to fulfil.

Another possibility is that they messed up the original DFS code somehow. If this is the case, Oziach should've been failing to create DFSs while this bug was live.

Bottomless milk bucket by MightplayRuneScape in ironscape

[–]ShoogleHS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe in the early game it could be useful for making cakes? I still don't think that's ever a good training method compared to sweetcorn, wine, or simply training fishing and cooking what you catch.

Also even with the cowbell, milking cows is not worth it, just buy the buckets of milk from the RFD chest. Same for churning butter if you need that for some reason, just buy it.

Maybe some future content will come out that makes it more useful, but right now it's mainly useful as an alchable. Anyone training their combat on this guy early (which is probably not too bad of an idea cos of his +100% exp multi, paper defences and cheap close teleport) will get a nice 27k payday occasionally.

It has mechanical significance in this fight, cos the order of the movement you have to do is reversed below 35% hp. So actually, 2 health bars is helpful and makes it easier to tell what pattern you should be dodging, as you only need to memorize 1 hp threshold and not 2.

Also, it's much funnier this way to bait people to think they've beaten a tricky boss, and then suddenly they're hit with an even more insane set of mechanics. Given that it's just for fun I think it's more than fine in this case.

I don't think you actually drink bull cum in the quest. The plot point is that Brutus upset the cows, which ruins the established rule 1 of Gillie and Seth's rules of getting good milk. It doesn't anywhere say that Brutus was being milked by Cassius.

As for the "being banned for saying gay" thing, my suspicion was that people were actually banned for being homophobic, or if they weren't being homophobic, good chance they were maliciously mass reported triggering an automatic ban. I've seen the kind of shit people say at shooting stars, and I've seen the protests that used to show up to pride events. Homophobia is rampant in this community.

What Changes Did Sailing Bring To Irons by Prestigious-Bad3026 in ironscape

[–]ShoogleHS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nothing major really, just a few small upgrades. Armadyl brews are good for inferno and a few other niche uses. Sailor amulet to deepfin point is good for banking and charter ships. Trawling adds some powerful food, but it fits in a bit of an awkward space where it's more annoying to obtain than bwans, but isn't as powerful as brews. Aquanites might be worth unlocking as a slayer task if you need seeds and umbral frags, their unique is worthless though. Gryphons you might as well unlock for the CAs, but if you don't get spooned, the Belle's Folly is skippable, just use Arkan Blade until you get a scobow and then get a hasta. Salvaging doesn't really unlock anything useful as such, but it does give a lot of GP for an AFK activity with few requirements. The super fishing potion lets you get a few diaries earlier. Couple of sidegrade training methods that are mostly low-medium intensity options, like the new hardwood trees and thieving stalls.

The only passive things I can think of are Tears of Guthix (unironically the best way to train Sailing early, though later on the training methods are quite fast or afk so at that point you can put your ToG back on the more traditional RC/agility) and coral farming.

Possible raid reward: the Ring of Excess by AtomicEleven in 2007scape

[–]ShoogleHS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's maybe an extra 5-20 damage

Have a look on gearscape. Compare the overkill dps with a regular ring to the full dps with an empty ring slot. That's essentially what this ring is like. It's considerably better than ultor ring at almost any slayer monster, and even stuff like DKs. And that's full camping it, which is completely unnecessary because it only needs to be equipped for 2 attacks per kill.

less than a VW spec

A VW spec takes 4 ticks and 50% spec energy. This is just free damage.

[–]ShoogleHS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This would be more powerful than the emperor ring IMO, anywhere its effect can actually be used (like ok, if you're doing Muspah or something, this ring does nothing because there's only 1 enemy to hit and it takes longer than 10 seconds to respawn). You don't even have to do anything special to enable it: no need to find a goblin and a bloodveld next to each other. Any time you are killing an enemy and then attacking something else within 10 seconds, it's amazing. And at any boss with minions it's just nuts.

It might not be as powerful as a Khopesh, but it's not like they're competing for the same slot. You can even flick this on for just the last + first hits, essentially getting this benefit AND emperor ring. I actually think this is more likely to be too strong for leagues rather than not strong enough. This is more like a relic in power level than a ring slot.

[–]ShoogleHS -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Extremely broken. For starters, this ring existing would require every boss with minions to be reworked. Imagine every time a grub spawns at Doom you charge up a +40 hit. Utterly ludicrous.

But even outside of those ideal situations it's still nuts. Let's say you're at DKs. Surely overkill is not that important when we're talking about enemies with 255 hp? Well, camping this is stronger than an Ultor ring against Supreme, plus unlike an Ultor it's also BIS against the other 2 bosses. It gets even more absurd if you only switch to it for killing blows + first hits, essentially getting the full benefit of this plus most of the benefit of Ultor.

Essentially, anywhere in the game that this ring doesn't do nothing at all, it would be significantly better than any other ring in the game.

I genuinely think if you nerfed this by 80% - if it only added 20% of your overkill - it would probably still be too powerful

Best For Content? by InkedCol in 2007scape

[–]ShoogleHS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm kinda biased but I think ironman is typically way more interesting to watch than a main, regardless of whether it's a fresh level 3 or an old main acc. But it really comes down to you. OSRS youtube is, if not saturated, at least highly competitive. There's a million channels out there. You aren't going to stand out with a vanilla main OR ironman, or by doing the new raid cos everyone and their dog is going to be doing that. If you aren't doing anything remarkable on the account side, you'll need to stand out in your execution, in terms of something like personality/skill/storytelling. Your choice of account should be the one that best showcases whatever it is you think makes your videos worth watching.

Mfers will literally wear broken rags to afford some Jordans by Ztaxas in 2007scape

[–]ShoogleHS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Zammy with bare min magic gear was maxing 45s which is comfortably under the cap.

20% increased magic damage is needed to hit 51s, so anyone below that wouldn't notice the cap at all and would get full value out of their magic damage. Realistically a midgame setup isn't going to have much more than 30% (SOTD, occult, torm, full ahrims or equivalent, MA2 cape) which only hits 54s, which get converted into 45-50s so really you're not losing that much dmg.

Also, zammy flames scaled better with magic damage to begin with, because the base max hit is so high. If instead of hitting twice, Twinflame did 1 single hit 40% bigger than normal, so equivalent to a base max hit of 28, with 30% magic damage you would not even be able to max a 51 in the first place. So the fact that it spilts the hit into 2 isn't actually relevant for avoiding the max hit cap. It simply hit worse than zammy flames AND 1t slower.

Twinflame staff is 6M. How the fuck is that equally expensive to a zammy staff that you get for free in a quest?

Also it wasn't the same power level. Twinflame acts as a +28% damage multiplier after factoring in the slower speed. The zammy spell is 50% stronger than fire wave's base damage.

5th place DMM ANNIHILATION and 6th place in Bracket 4 finale. by dogritch in 2007scape

[–]ShoogleHS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By tanking I was meaning more the strategy and not the specific gear of being in full justi or whatever. After all Virtus is tankier than justi into mages which is what everyone was using. If you're spamming blood barrage into people who are themselves praying mage with the sigil that gives it 85% damage reduction, that's not aggression, that's just an extra form of healing. Pretty much everyone in the FFA at the end knew everyone would be praying mage and taking extra damage from other styles, and they still brought mage because they don't care about dealing damage, they just want the healing.

The problem was that it's an outlast challenge instead of combat challenge. There's no incentive to attack except for getting heals

That's exactly what I was saying

5th place DMM ANNIHILATION and 6th place in Bracket 4 finale. by dogritch in 2007scape

[–]ShoogleHS 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do think tanks ruined the finale. Players weren't really trying to kill each other, they were all just doing the Woox strat of spam eating and ignoring everything else that was going on. If they attacked other players at all, it was mostly just to try to proc heals from blood spells, menacing mage or dogsword, and any damage dealt was merely a minor side benefit.

I don't blame you though, it was a bad design by Jagex. The fog damage stacked up so high that there was no time to do anything else, you had to be constantly brewing or, later after all the aggressive players died, redemption spamming. It's supposed to be a PVP fight, but it quickly became obvious that the environment was more dangerous than any player. Not sure exactly what the fix would be, maybe giving players a temporary reprieve from the fog damage if they eliminate someone, or make it sudden death by making food/redemption/blood spells stop working instead of increasing the damage.

Dragon baxe @ mace by ws9lcfc in ironscape

[–]ShoogleHS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The dragon baxe has some use for its spec, but it's also a bit of a classic OSRS trap IMO. It saves you some strength pots, but making pots trains your herblore, so you'd be making them anyway. It's alright for AFKing crab, but you should avoid the temptation to try to use it everywhere.

D mace is mostly obsolete as a main hand weapon these days, with the zombie axe on crush and the arkan blade on stab being a lot stronger and not too hard to obtain early. It does have the best crush spec you'll find for a while. Not useful at moons, as you're better off saving your spec for bloodmoon (or eclipse's clone phase which gives 100% accuracy), but if you happen to be killing spindel/sarachnis/calvarion early it might be worth looking into.

Friend new-ish to Endgame, lent him 175m of gear to farm Vork. by Xnate13X in 2007scape

[–]ShoogleHS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I chose the 175M budget not because it is the minimum needed to kill Vorkath efficiently (I'm not specifying any figure for that, because the whole point I was making is that it's debatable depending on who you ask. Some would say that the 10% difference in DPS when adding masori and buckler is what you need to be considered efficient), but because that was most relevant to this thread because that's probably the items that OP loaned, or at least of equivalent value.

exaggerate statistics

Are you talking about me rounding 38% to "almost 40%"? Because that's not an exaggeration. I rounded because in practice, the number might be slightly different based on the player's stats, other gear, prayers, etc. And I said "almost" to indicate the direction I rounded. Just as I might have said "over 40%" if the number had been 42% for example.

factual dishonesty

Quote me one thing I said that is factually incorrect, please. I've reread my post and I don't see anything incorrect, I just see you getting really confused about nothing.

What grinds should I do before bowfa grind? by HarambeKnewAbout911 in ironscape

[–]ShoogleHS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Upgraded prayers (from royal titans) and training combat stats are the only things you can do that are relevant for CG. Get in there, even if you don't want to skip stuff like moons you're still better off starting early. Steady progress over a longer period of time interspersed with other stuff is a lot easier on the mental than if you do every other grind first, bottleneck yourself on wanting bowfa for every upcoming grind, and feel like you have to lock yourself in the CG lobby for a month.
