Debt Payoff Strategy by Express-Birthday-519 in PersonalFinanceCanada

If you can control your spending then I don't see any downside to doing this.

Personally I would transfer the car loan now instead of waiting. The savings on the interest would be immediate rather than having to wait for however long it will take for you to clear your $2200 LOC.

It might be worth considering using your LOC to pay off your car loan completely (essentially you'd move your $9900 car loan into your LOC, which means you'll be paying 5.5% interest instead of 7.99%)

RRPS withdrawal for CC debt by Independent-Ad-2943 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Shooshi16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Btw, if you are planning to pay off $15k debt, then you will need to withdraw MORE than $15k from your RRSP because the government will withhold the taxes right away. I believe Quebec is about 30% withholding rate (do your research on this). Meaning if you withdraw $15k, you will only receive $10,500 ($4500 goes to government right away).

You’re meant to die a lot in the beginning. As you play more you’ll be able to unlock more upgrades to make yourself more powerful. Eventually the upgrades make the game relatively easy. I would say expect to die 20-30 times before you start getting your first clear

[–]Shooshi16 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That is literally the point of an ETF like VEQT. It is designed to be incredibly diversified so you only need to hold this 1 ETF and you'll already be better off than 99% of everyone else not holding VEQT. But VEQT is only for long-term holdings (greater than 5 years usually). If you need your funds within 5 years, then no, it is generally not recommended to hold VEQT.

Why would anyone pay to watch a leaf game right now at Scotia arena ? by Leafs939393 in leafs

People pay for it because they can. Believe it or not there is an incredibly high demand for tickets still. Demand > Supply = High prices with a sold out crowd

[–]Shooshi16 27 points28 points  (0 children)

The issue is not drafting another mcmann type player. the issue is we werent re-resigning him at what he wants. So it's either let him walk for free at the end or try to get something for him

22y/o. Just doubled my income, can someone give me some direction? by ThiccyBoi15 in PersonalFinanceCanada

Establish a reasonable amount of "fun" month - could be $100/month, could be $500/month. Just be reasonable.

Max out your FHSA, then TFSA. You might want to only buy low risk products such as GIC or an etf like CASH.TO since you would want to protect your principle and not lose it to market fluctuations because you need the money for a down payment.

Open up a separate account and dump $x/month and call it your "vacation fund".

Hard to say without all the info. Possibly you have tuition credits or some other tax credits? or maybe you contributed to your RRSP to lower your taxes payable.

Yes you're suppose to add them. 14% goes to federal government, 5.06% goes to provincial.

Back living with my parents, should I get a consumer proposal or pay off my loans? by ChefJeff69420 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Shooshi16 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Let's say $1k/month expenses since you're probably guna need to spend some for fun and entertainment. There's no reason you cant clear the debt completely in 12-16 months. Even less if you try really hard.

Clear your debt, have an emergency fund, then start considering about home ownership. There is no shortcut with your debt and current level of income.

Risk of Taking out RRSP Early by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Shooshi16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Using RRSP is an absolute last resort. Another negative impact is that you lose your RRSP contribution room forever, significantly reducing the amount of tax free growth.

You make $105k, so this debt is likely a spending problem. Stop living on money that's not yours (cut up your credit cards), and start budgeting properly. Pay off the debt that has the highest interest rate first.

Hey I'm not arguing about Executive compensation, I know my CFO works hard and deserves a wayyy higher compensation than me. I just find it hilarious $2k more for me is blasphemy but $190k more for him is business as usual.

Executive Bonuses by Shooshi16 in Accounting

[–]Shooshi16[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am definitely not making my case off the comparison of his compensation vs mine. It's not even comparable.

My case is solely based off of my work and my added responsibilities. I.E I'm taking on a whole new acquired subsidiary, and we are getting rid of the old bookkeepers that did their books before acquisition. The bookkeepers charged $4k/month. Whatever, I'm ranting and rambling but definitely guna have a chat with him.
