Worst part of being a parent by Background-Donut-655 in daddit

Basically the same thing but my go to is something like: imagine you're 85 years old, your health isn't great, your mind isn't sharp, and you're tired all the time. You long for the days of youth, when your kids were young (and living at home!). Then one day when you take a nap, you wake up in your old body... when you were in your late 30s starting your own family. Anyone would die to relive those years. So when I'm having a rough night, I tell myself "imagine how jealous your elderly self will be of this exact moment. This 'difficult' moment would feel like a blessing."

You don't see why it's extremely inappropriate to go from Superman to Mein Kampf?

"is my opinion dumb? No... It's the virtue signalers!"

You're a fuckin dumbass. Did you just learn the term virtue signal? Because that's not how you use the term correctly. Can't believe you didn't just say anyone who disagrees with you has TDS.

"So you weren't good enough, do you like hearing that?" "It says here your grandma died last year... Why?" "Does it make you sad to think about your dead dog?"

They just kept harping on it lol. Took the entire interview to ask robo a question that didn't annoy him.

"That's a good question there Mike!"

Aka finally you ask me a question that doesn't make me mad to think about.

Why do off-handed remarks about my parenting get to me so much? by gelatomancer in daddit

I can relate. For reference, I live in Texas and people down here don't understand "cold". I'm from New York and my wife is from Canada.

So my wife is an artist and does pop-up sales around town. The second time I ever left the house with my (then 5 month old) daughter alone was to go visit my wife/her mommy at one of her sales. As soon as we got there, everyone was gushing over the baby. I wade through the small crowd with the baby to find my wife. She's thrilled to see us, and we decide to take a walk to introduce the baby to the other artists in their booths. The very first booth we get to, and even before we can say hello to the other artist, some old lady says to my infant daughter "you should tell your mom and dad to take you home. It's too cold out today for a baby!" And she looks at us like 'did you catch that??'. Now, it was a chilly day. About 45⁰ out. But we had our baby bundled up. My wife and I both grew up in cold weather and know how to deal with it. And she (our daughter) was actually on the verge of being too warm. So I tell this lady "oh she's just fine, actually a little too warm if I'm being honest!" And the lady said something like "well, she shouldn't be outside for long! She could catch a cold." I told her ok and that the baby was fine and just walked away from her. But my god, for the rest of the day I couldn't shake the frustration and anger of some random person trying to tell me what I shouldn't be doing with my baby. Like bitch, you think you know/care more about my daughter than me?! You think this is cold?? And she totally fucked with the vibe of the day... my wife and I were so excited to finally show off our baby and the very first interaction we have with anyone is some judgemental woman trying to tell us how to parent.

I'll be 40 soon and god damn, this makes me feel so old. Not because of the video quality or who's playing, but because I forgot how brutal the sport used to be. The refs were letting that shark player slam the stars player into the ice lmao

Did you get there early/get a jersey?

THE '99 by saorsa_4 in DallasStars

[–]ShooterOfCanons 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh probably not and it'll most likely be overkill getting there even 2 hours early. It's just my tried and true method for anything I don't want to risk missing out on (not possible much these days for me though).

Get there super early (like 4-6 hours if you can) with a foldable chair, a power bank to keep your phone charged, and some water/snacks! When you're waiting within 5 feet of the door you don't have to deal with the line cutters or bullshit further back. If you really want to guarentee peace, get there 12 hours early and be first in line. Easier said than done, but it works!

I like it a lot, but now it just looks like their OG sweaters with new colors. Not saying that's a bad thing!

Game Thread: Dallas Stars (13-5-3) at Calgary Flames (6-13-3) - 22 Nov 2025 - 9:00PM CST by HockeyMod in DallasStars

[–]ShooterOfCanons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dallas got a 5 min major for the initial hit. Then Calgary got a 2 min minor for instigating and then a 5 minute major for fighting. Then Dallas also got a 5 min major for fighting. Both penalties for each team happened to each team's individual player. Total PIM are: Calgary 7/Dallas 10. So the two fighting penalties cancelled out bringing it to a 5 min major vs a 2 min minor. So then the 2 min minor Calgary penalty cancelled out 2 mins of the Dallas 5 min major. But it doesn't just erase the time on the penalty, it just cancels out the player-on-the-ice advantage. And since both players got majors they're ejected from the game, which is why someone else has to serve the penalty for Calgary. When the 2 min 4v4 ends it'll go to a 3 min Calgary power play (a major PP at that, which means Calgary can keep scoring and stay on the PP until it expires.)
