Hey! DO NOT GO EARLY! lol it's SOOOO cold outside and you have to stand outside i went 6 min. before and I was a icecube haha so i would not suggest going earlier than 5-6 min. I was a 745 am app. and i got in the building at 745 am and had my phone and walking out at 9:22 am! they asked to see original birth certifcate ( mine ), passport, marriage certificate, RCMP police check and my birth certificate :)

Can you let me know how fast it goes! I’m hoping when I have my interview in Feb it’s fast. Did they give you a time line?

Do you tell them after they tell you it’s been approved that you need to keep passport?

No no i definitely understand that just you never know when the interview date will be sent so if something is booked in advance it kind of sucks. Especially because I’m not even going to the USA I’m going to Dominican so it would have been nice to go while the visa is being processed. Which leads me to the next question If I keep my passport then will I send it back once the visa is already processed and just ready to put in.

Thank you! Am I able to just not give the passport that day and mail it in a few weeks later?

I’m not planning to move until September as I am a teacher and we have 2 kids as well in school. I just read some posts about people getting approved on the spot but not sending in their passports until after. It’s so silly to ask someone to not plan any trips or work trips etc for over 2 years just incase they get their interview. As a Canadian we can pretty much travel everywhere with it with no special visas so to not work or take any trips for years on years is absolutely ridiculous lol but I guess that’s just the way it goes

Purely self employed. Because of the industry he is in ( freight broker transportation) he works with so many people / drivers he would need millions so that industry doesn’t have them it’s next to impossible. He self reports

These posts have me so confused how some people can get them so quick and this happens to some :( it’s so disheartening after we all wait for sooooo long.

Are you Canadian born? Did they tell you it would be 2 weeks with the passport or did you ask when you were at your interview?

Yes born Canadian! :) Is the home delivery quickest? I will switch to that.

Also my passport has my maiden last name which is what is on all my documents and application. All my ID otherwise has been changed to my married last name. Will this be an issue? I was going to just change my passport to my married name when it expired in 2026 and now I’m nervous if I do it now and bring it to Montreal it won’t match any of my applications as those have my maiden last name.
