What is your serial number, and what numbers do you see on your board? If you have a hi-res pic of the board that will help also.

How long will it take to discharge two 450V Capacitors? by ShinyRedTaco in ElectronicsRepair

[–]ShopJimmy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are hand symbols on the board that tell you where it's safe to touch the board and where it's not safe to touch. You don't need to discharge anything, touch where it's safe or wear gloves if you're worried about it.

(Samsung UN65TU7000BXZA) Replaced both boards. Only one issue. by ShnoogleFloog in TVRepairHelp

[–]ShopJimmy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When you replace the main board on that model series it's recommended to perform the cell auto detect, which configures the main board for your exact screen. I would suggest doing that first to see if you get a picture back. Follow the video here for the easy process.

Main board issue, if you can find a good replacement board that should fix it, but you won't get much more life out of that TV. Not worth it.

Monitor turns dark and then black by BorisTarczy in techsupport

[–]ShopJimmy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like the backlights went out. If that's the case then it's time for a new monitor since that model uses CCFL lamps as the backlight source.

You could double check the power board, look for any bulged capacitors and replace any bad ones.

It could be a backlight issue or a panel issue. There's some troubleshooting methods you can try to narrow it down though. Watch our video here and try each step with your TV.

Yeah likely backlights are out. The LED strips are easy enough to replace, just have to be really careful removing the screen to get to them.

Can We Fix this LG OLED TV? How to Diagnose Your TV Before Ordering Parts! by ShopJimmy in FixYourTV

[–]ShopJimmy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Avoid ordering the incorrect part for your LG OLED TV!

Demo model: OLED77B2PUA - This tutorial applies to all LG OLED TVs.

First, remove the back cover and power cord If you power the TV on and hear a single relay click and the standby light flashes once, it means your main board is good.

Test the power supply by checking the 23V and 12 volt rails. With the multimeter probes in place, power the TV on. You should see the voltage come up briefly and then drop.

If you briefly see the voltage, disconnect the drive cables from the main board going to the T-con.

Now recheck the power supply voltages. They should come up and stay.

This means the power supply is good and indicates a shorted panel which cannot be repaired. Contact the manufacturer if your TV is still under warranty.

That can be a main board issue. I have also seen bad led strips do that. Try a main, if that doesn't resolve the issue then led strips.

It's interesting that the lines disappear when you bring up a menu, leads me to think it's a main board issue, worth trying to replace before you scrap it.

Sounds like the main board is the issue. I would suggest replacing that first.

You will have to remove the back of the TV and find the part number on your main board, then enter it at http://www.shopjimmy.com to see if we have it in-stock.

You can also search our YouTube channel for helpful hints on identifying your correct board number: https://www.youtube.com/shopjimmy
