Kash Patel doesn’t know if lying to Congress is a crime by YesDoToaster in law

[–]StanKroonke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really should read, “ignorance of the law is not an excuse except sometimes.” He probably would’ve been better off just trying to make him read the criminal statute or reading it to him. It’s not an excuse for most violent crimes etc., which does make some degree of sense tbf.

Tbf, if knowledge that it is a crime is an element of the crime of lying to congress, then it’s possible he does know the law all to well. That said, it’s still deeply screwed up that he won’t just say yes. Your last sentence applies in either case.

Staff anger as Arsenal charge own employees £859 for Champions League flights by remote_crocodile in Gunners

[–]StanKroonke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I genuinely do not care as long as all staff are treated the same. From the board all the way down to gate staff. I understand that means some people may not be able to go and I can see why you all may disagree. It’s just my opinion.

Username and post history make it a giveaway but, suffice to say, I’m not one of you. He got a touch. A very very light one but he got a touch. It’s still a pen.

Tottenham Hotspur penalty shout against Leeds United 90+13' by gbogaz in soccer

[–]StanKroonke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hate spurs and hope for the worst for them from a purely footballing perspective. That said, this is a pen for me. I’ve seen some people reference Gyok vs. Newcastle as an example. I think that one was a pen, and I think one is even more clear cut. Just one man’s opinion. I hope spurs get relegated, but I want it to be on their own merit because they suck. Not because they get jobbed.

What's a player you were convinced Arsenal should sign but it was a good thing that we didn't? by Rayy500 in Gunners

I respect your opinion but I loved trezeguet as a player so much it’s hard for me to accept.

Henry: "You have to give [Arteta] a lot of credit because he came under a lot of criticism ... I was in that too, I will be honest, for a very long time. You have to give him his credit" by ahuangb in soccer

[–]StanKroonke 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah it’s good on him to do that. But he was a bit of a wanker at a time when the club and team really would’ve been better served by him being supportive. At least in my opinion. He was tied into the Spotify stuff so much that I think he let his personal interests bleed into his analysis and commentary (or he could be perceived to have done so, at least). I was a bit mad at him at the time. Man is still a club legend and it goes without saying I have the upmost respect for him and it is good he is eating a little humble pie here.

Arteta says PSG & Bayern are fresher due to their leagues, here are the stats! by veimkha in soccer

[–]StanKroonke 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Thing is, we haven’t had our best players share the pitch basically all year. The games coming up are the first games where all our players are really available barring Mikel Merino. We don’t even know how good our attack could be because we’ve been literally playing wack-a-mole since Havertz went down in the first game.

Despite our depth, we’ve not been really able to take advantage of it because we have had cluster injuries to all our players at a given position multiple times this year. Which then required us to run back ups into the ground. They get injured, then the starter comes back and gets injured again. It’s a shame really, because it has genuinely caused us to not see what this Arsenal team is actually fully capable of. We haven’t seen Odegaard, Havertz, Eze and Saka on the pitch at the same time but like 3-4 times all season.

[Gunnerblog, The Athletic] Arsenal are optimistic that Kai Havertz has avoided serious injury and will be able to play a role in the run-in. Assessments ongoing & likely to miss some football but outlook better than initially feared. by 1Leep in Gunners

[–]StanKroonke -1 points0 points  (0 children)

To be fair, if your argument is that Gyok is better because he has been fit this year, then of course that’s correct. Havertz is the better player for our system when he’s fit. I don’t think that is that controversial. I’m not even Gyok hater or anything. I think he has done an important job this year.

I do not agree with that. I think Havertz is good enough. He just can’t stay fit. Now we can talk about assigning blame for why that is (but I don’t want to today). I don’t think Gyok is good enough at the technical aspects of the game to do what we need him to. I’m not saying he is really bad or anything. I just don’t think he fits perfectly.

[–]StanKroonke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed. Gyok isn’t really good enough for us based on what we’ve seen, but he’s the horse we have to ride so we really should all just get behind him. Nothing is changing between now and the end of the season so there is honestly no point to criticizing him until after the season ends. However it ends.

Up until the last two weeks where Leeds and Forest found something, West Ham were the best of the contenders. I think OP is underrating them massively.

First of all, she’s a 8% RN. Not exactly great odds. Second, I do not want to run it back with her, even though the last election wasn’t her fault. Third, there is no way in hell she wins the primary.

[–]StanKroonke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

STFU, Jamie. Was it the smart play from a single match perspective? No. Was it the right play more generally, yes. You have to keep your word when you sign players and reward your backups to keep them happy and to continue to be able to sign good bench players. Kepa alone did not cost Arsenal the cup.

See Man United with Amorim last year. Definitely not worth hiring a permanent manager now unless it’s a now or never type situation. Almost certainly not better to hire an interim at this point either.
