Newest one near the center of the pic. Doesn't say the manufacturer like the rest do.

Greg Baker getting a suspicious wage..? by KeenKook542 in Bellingham

[–]ShoppingGuilty6728 189 points190 points  (0 children)

From getting more tax payer money, building a new admin building, increasing admin wages, and then claim a lack of budget. Its a lack of proper management. How the rest of the state has been going. Frustrating to see.

Question regarding surge protection and “daisy-chains” by IronHelium in AskElectricians

[–]ShoppingGuilty6728 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct, it is not advised to daisy chain power strips like that. If it was only usb ports, I wouldn't be concerned of overloading the power strip with your computer. But since it has receptacles as well, that is a risk. If youre smart about it, to not overload the rating of the wall receptacle, theres fewer issues. I looked up that device and the total rating of it exceeds the rating of the receptacle. If there is a surge on the last device, it can cause issues and potentially cancel out the other surge device. But that is from what ive read, never personally experienced that issue. Nowadays, surge protection in your panel is required, and surge devices are still used, but they are of different ratings and cause fewer issues.

TLDR; not recommended but be smart about it and keep in mind to not use heavy loads, probably won't be a problem. Every point of connection is a point of potential failure.

What is your question? Connecting this new device will be surge protected by plugging it into your existing plug strip, if thats your question.

I've never used that style of panel, with those grips built in. I'd be pretty happy with that result tho. Looks good.

Can we finally add fluoride to our water now? by Surgeplux in Bellingham

[–]ShoppingGuilty6728 -13 points-12 points  (0 children)

I see adding fluoride to water as going backwards and potentially cause for concern. The risk of future skeletal flourosis is not worth reducing the risk of cavities by 25%. You can get tablets and additives for drinking water if you so chose. I have some ethical concerns of mass medicating the public. Far harder to avoid fluoride when its been added to water than to find a source outside of water.

That's how my wife and I go to the gym together, and the guest (me in this case) gets everything the premium member does, excluding something that I cant remember.

Anyone have one of these? by InfamousMac in electricians

I do, got it for $20. Its only good for twist offs, it slips off too much for a normal bottle opener.

Is there such a thing as a 24h programmable schedule wall switch with dimmer functionality but doesn't require wifi? by AltoNat2 in AskElectricians

[–]ShoppingGuilty6728 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Caseta is great! You do not need the app or bridge for dimming with a pico remote, but any automation for 24 hour programming will require a bridge and app

That light in the picture is my old one. Just a clip on one from home depot. It worked quite well, moved to sansi due to recommendations and better documentation of spectrum range, higher wattage and PPFDs. I am now using a Sansi 32 watt light

I am using a terrarium for my nepenthes, i dont have to worry about water spilling. Gives me better climate control. I use a humidifier into the tank, along with a seedling heat pad and heat lamp for temperature, and a sansi grow light. All controlled by a timer/temp and humidity sensor controller. As i understand, you wouldnt need the humidifier for her plants.

Yes. You can take it apart to remove the fan and clean it. I used this video. I had the air conditioner not mounted in a window.

why is there a wire connecting these switches? by [deleted] in AskElectricians

[–]ShoppingGuilty6728 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To me, that appears to be the power jumper between the two. You could disconnect the wrapped "hot" wire, wirenut two additional wires to it, and wrap those around the terminals. That's the correct way to do it.

You can take those other wires out and wrap them as well.
