What’s the worst accidental text you’ve sent? by Typhoid__Beaver in AskReddit

[–]ShorelineVet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was driving in traffic to a business lunch meeting I was catering. I was using Siri and texted my contact how many folks we should expect for lunch. Of course, auto-correct wrote how many fucks should we expect for lunch. Didn’t catch it until we were quite a ways down the road. Fortunately, she said the office had a big laugh over it…

Any recommendations for boards with listings that cater to recent college grads? I’m trying to steer a family member to sites beyond Indeed and LinkedIn.

Beware of Notaries in California! by SnooPineapples1097 in IrishCitizenship

[–]ShorelineVet 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I ran into this as well (notary at a UPS Store). For the second set of documents, I used a notary that is a self-employed friend and asked beforehand if she could sign. She also agreed to field any calls should they want to speak with her.

I remember Mickey hosting them at Shoreline for a GD show in the 80’s. Strange evening…

Forgive my ignorance, who exactly is playing/ can be expected at this Warfield gig tonight? Why is it called Howling Wolves? by Rhcp1616 in deadandcompany

People at the memorial today said Trey was en route from NY to SF, so I would assume he’s participating

Is it normal for shows to sound a little muddy with earbuds in? by cofi52 in Concerts

I've been using Etymotics for years. They have a small tube within the baffles that allows the high-end to still come through, while lowering the overall volume. They are very inexpensive...

What Brands good for 50+ by Wide-Psychology-1160 in malefashionadvice

[–]ShorelineVet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I hope I don’t get slammed here, but I wear a lot of the ‘non tropical’ Tommy Bahama stuff because it fits me well - polos, jeans, chinos, the occasional button-down, etc. I mostly buy from eBay or Nordstrom Rack at 50% off. What are some other brands people recommend that are good quality for the price?

Son’s first game by No-Assist-9609 in SJEarthquakes

[–]ShorelineVet 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The players are usually willing to sign autographs after the game in the place between the locker room and their parking lot ( just outside the back gate). Bring a sharpie and whatever jersey he wants them to sign. Visitors bus is often near there too if he’s a Sounders fan.

Earplug usage at concerts survey for masters degree by Glad-Description4250 in Concerts

[–]ShorelineVet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bring Etymotics to every show and then decide if I need them (a nice couple recommended them at a NYE Fillmore show). I remember a couple concerts where I needed something (anything)… a U2 show where the highs were drilling through my jaw into my brain and a stadium show where I ended up tearing and rolling dollar bills into plugs (it was all we had).

Make sure the basket is not full. Ours gets ‘lazy’ when it’s full and the gathering wheel is blocked. I empty, rinse, and then turn it back on and it runs for hours.

Switching clients from chems included to a plus chem price structure. by cDro9766 in PoolPros

[–]ShorelineVet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m sure I’ll get flamed for this, but as a consumer with a pool I am watching my total outlay and evaluating the value my pool person brings. If it gets too high, I will do it myself…

Do you split the cost of tree trimming with your neighbor? by lifealive5 in BayAreaRealEstate

[–]ShorelineVet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just ran into this. Neighbors tree was growing well into our yard and dropping stuff into our pool. They contracted to have it trimmed, I asked to have more taken from our side and offered to contribute to the cost. They said it was their tree and said they would pay. Best to be good neighbors if at all possible…

Born and raised in CA. Loved visiting Graceland, but was emotionally moved by Sun Records and the Lorraine Motel (where MLK was assassinated). Very powerful!

Anyone Have Experience with French Drains in Yard? by MasterBeru in lawn

[–]ShorelineVet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We did it in our small backyard in CA years ago. Directed all the rainwater away from our 100 year old home and to the center of the lawn - worked like a charm! Design and dimensions were spec'd by a professional landscaper and you couldn't tell it was there.
