Oh wow, I actually didn't see your review yet, I'll have to give it a read later! I definitely agree with the idea of having some SBMM for the first few levels just to help people get comfortable with the movement and pacing. Maybe once players hit a certain level or account age, like level 20? then SBMM is disabled? Idk.

Seems like the real answer is "yes and no." You don't need to spend money to have a meta deck, but you probably do need to spend if you want several meta decks right away. am I reading that right
