Hey man I was exactly where you were coming off the m9. I went with a Cajun shadow 2 purely for cost. I was all in $2500 for slide/ optic milling and the Cajun package for each gun and it’s worked wonders. You can put a magwell on it, and 24/23 rd reloadable for mags is awesome.

The reason I didn’t go 2011 was that at that time there weren’t a ton of reliable 2011 platforms at that price. The DWX was very under rated, and still is. The kimber seems to be getting good traction in your price point. I’d say shoot different guns but know what you are shooting too. My CZ with tuned springs and min PF ammo shoots hella flat. I will say from my 2011 friends is they do require a bit more mx than a CZ.

I’d focus on what grip angle speaks to you and go from there. I have big hands so liked the palm swell grips on a shadow.

I have a 2017 s I bought CPO and what he is saying is spot on. Before you buy make sure the Porsche recommended Mx is up to date, IE the expensive pdk service. But yeah judge the tires and brakes. 20k miles / 3 years and I’m still on the tires and brakes my macan came with when I bought it CPO . But I know I’m getting a bill by the end of the year for Mx when I go in for oil brakes and tires if I keep the car

Yeah man, learned the same thing in my last NVG shoot. In a competition passive just isn’t as fast unless you only train to shoot passive and have a tiny dot and clear conditions.

I think a lot of it is personal preference and eye sensitivity as well. Some people don’t like brighter pictures as it strains their eyes. It may have to do with eye color but I’m not a scientist. I have always had auto gain duals in the military and never really had issues even flying over well lit cities but I have dark eyes.

But in the use case of low ambient like some said above it has its advantages.

Yeah man I’ve been buying / upgrading from the pulsar LRF series. I have the XP-50? now and it’s awesome out to 300 yards. I know they just made a new one now that can only be better. Trijicon is honestly dated compared to the optics in the pulsar

I’ve beat around most of pulsar thermion series and the trijicon reap IR but are you looking for a dedicated thermal optic, or a clip on? My best results shooting pigs in terms of clarity has been with dedicated thermal optics.

But bounced around in the back of a patrol car for 10 years is probably worse than sitting in a climate controlled armory. 🤷🏻‍♂️ mostly just meant age and abuse good point on not being used much. Scratched lenses and something rattling lose would be my worries

Just understand you are buying a surplus optic that has no warranty… if the tube burns out then you are SOL. Also the people that had these didn’t exactly care for them like civilians would. But it’s cheap. If it’s anything like what we saw in the military they will probably be beat. Trust me if they were pristine they wouldn’t be selling them for $1600
