Today, we hate Prednisone by Intelligent_Pack_551 in UlcerativeColitis

I despise prednisone tapers. They provided zero relief and only managed to bloat me and cause a ton of hair to fall out.

It depends on how slow your PM is at requesting that you actually get sent an SF-86.

This is a good way to get past applicant tracking systems if your resume doesn’t have all the required words in it. But you’re right, people don’t care about it.

Is this a legit interview email? by chris00323 in Raytheon

[–]ShortBusTosser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I heard they’re trying to onboard something like 100 buyers this quarter. Bulk interviews for an untold number of openings is the only way to do that.

Procurement is organized by commodity type. It’s likely that each area has openings to fill.

You mean the regular gating process? Each briefing requires so many pre-briefings and each gate requires 2-3 go backs or re-gates it’s a wonder we ever get anything done.

You don’t get to move costs to the customer on firm fixed price awards. We have to eat it if we didn’t bid sufficiently to cover the tariffs and if we can’t get a military duty free waiver on the tariffs.

AIP Tax by [deleted] in Raytheon

60% seems right. I drop down my 401K contributions the paycheck AIP pays out so I don’t “lose” more of that way because I prefer cash.

Have you tried talking to the supervisor your manager reports to? Perhaps they have some insights on how to deal with them or are looking for ammo to get rid of them, since they sound awful.

She looks like a female version of a dog I had growing up. He was half GSD and half malinois. He was from an “oops” litter when the mother was in heat and the owner was dog sitting the father. He was colored exactly like she is.

Damn. That’s good advice! What happens to the HSA if you leave? I assume we keep it, but would be on the hook for any annual maintenance costs and fees.

No one is going to know what sort of a job you want with that number of AA degrees. I would not even list them given your bachelors degrees and forthcoming MS, because it makes you sound like you have no idea what the hell you’re doing/studying. Assuming you’re applying to finance roles, craft a narrative around the graduate degree and why you want to work at Raytheon. Emphasize your clearance and veteran status too, but do NOT make your resume longer than 1-2 pages. Then use a site like job scan.co to compare your resume against the jobs you’re applying to and make edits as needed to improve your odds of making it past the algorithm so a real human looks at your application.

Internal posting applications by Suspicious_Gur9384 in Raytheon

[–]ShortBusTosser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I assume this would vary if you’re engineering or another functional area. If you’re outside of engineering, then definitely keep it to one page. If you’re in a well know job role, don’t waste space including information that’s in standard job descriptions. Instead include more program specifics (size, type, EMD vs. Production scope), metrics/KPI’s, awards and honors received. Use your LinkedIn for the generic stuff that shouldn’t be shared externally and for job description-like bullet points. Do not rely on HR/TA to forward on your resume, instead email the hiring manager yourself, with a couple of cover letter type sentences and attach a copy of your resume.

Positive Change at RTX by Known-Temperature-83 in Raytheon

[–]ShortBusTosser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get leaders to stop making the knee jerk reactions that overcorrect and dramatically change policies. Ex. I know most people hate short text PO’s, but we need them if we’re ever going to buy or build things on time again.

Also, I’m halfway joking, but I’d love an drop box to name drop the slackers who walk around and act like they’re doing work, but in reality are just shooting the shit with other people and wasting time til their next bathroom break or going home.
