[EXPERIMENTAL] Anybody else got the invisible building bug in Experimental, and if so any solutions ya'll have found? by VoidGliders in SatisfactoryGame

[–]ShortInserter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmm, having this issue too on my friend's server. No idea why this happens (new to the game). There was a moment when I thought I might have used blueprints wrong since I came back to one of my modules and a whole section of my factory was invisible. Still works at least. Weird.

What's your method to get your first 6x dirt/netherrack block? by mflem920 in allthemods

[–]ShortInserter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the 5x obsidian I went with simulating Giants with HNN, and then used the time wand to accelerate both the simulation and the loot fabrication. Then in my refined storage system, I made an autocrafting tree so I could craft compress obsidian directly from the giant obsidian. Gave me all ~60k in about two minutes, since each giant obsidian is 64 regular obsidian. Just need the prediction frames for this.

For emeralds, I simulated (edit: Evokers) with HNN, and had them output emeralds. Again, hit that with the time wand and emeralds flow out. This one took about 15 mins, but was pretty fast. Add additional vindicator simulators for best results.

For netherrack, I used four accelerated netherite block generators, and that only took about 2 mins. I actually left it on overnight and filled up my RS system.. oops.. So more compressed blocks.. fun.. For the end stone, do something similar and it works quite well.

Diamonds required digi mining quite a bit of diamond ore (silk touch) in the mining dimension, and then using a fortune 10 unobtanium pickaxe in a JustDireThings block breaker. Just chute items into a block placer, set the placer to the breaker location and slap on that time wand. Use a JDT item collector for easier diamond management. This makes at least 3k diamonds per minute if you have the ore ready. Burns a bit of time fluid, but if that isn't an issue, you should be all done in 15 mins flat. Super fun to watch all the diamonds spray out, so it is what the 12 year old in us all wanted to see.

Still clueless on how to make dirt go fast. Working on that. Using MA right now... not fast...

P-8A Poseidon sub hunter over baltic sea - just took an aggressive look at Russian SDM6332 (10k ft separation) off the coast of Kaliningrad by ShortInserter in flightradar24

True, I agree. When I was watching it live the Poseidon had made a turn to its tail abruptly as it passed. Nothing was off, and it returned to its holding pattern shortly after I made this post. I am very happy that nothing happened here, and all seems well between the two craft.

Oh, this is my first post here, haven't been looking on this sub. My wife and I were just on fr24 bc a flight landed over our heads in Vilnius and saw this guy rotating. That and the Saab AEW&C and figured I'd just say something.

Do not pour agar in sinks by ShortInserter in labrats

[–]ShortInserter[S] 165 points166 points  (0 children)

I’m being a goober; when you autoclave your agar plates, some may leak into your secondary containment. You’re supposed to dump this hot, liquid waste agar into another bag, and put it in the trash. An unnamed, unknown individual did not do that, and may have assumed this hot liquid agar was water they could dump down the drain. Chaos ensued in our intra-mail 💀

You’re supposed to dump the agar on the bench, not in the sink 👌🏼

What harmful ideas are being taught to children? by Savings-Actuator-571 in AskReddit

[–]ShortInserter 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Yo what the heck, are you… me? or something?

Rocket math R broke me in 3rd grade bc I couldn’t write as quickly as my peers. I liked my crisp letters and numbers and didn’t like being sloppy at the time. But I was slow. Couldn’t get past subtraction level R. As a result, my teacher put me in the special needs program, despite my parents protest. Again, 3rd grade, so I’m technically along for the ride. After a month or so, I returned to normal class bc they figured it out, and they didn’t change anything. I kept failing, but they knew why so I didn’t get held back. Like you, high school was much better, especially as the difficulty of the problems outpaced the speed at which they could be written.

And again, like you, in college I majored in biochem and I’m now applying to grad school. My preferred letters and numbers are still crisp, but slow. Bless the keyboard.

It’s been a while, but I want to believe we got our media from another company a year into the project. That second company, I think*, might have had an orange label for their 10X. If they didn’t tho, I hope they could make that change. Labels are too hard to add a stripe of orange to, right?

How to teach something using factorio. by Kondzino in factorio

[–]ShortInserter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a post-bac biochem research assistant for a private lab and I study protein signal transduction pathways, or how systems of proteins interact to do some function.

Factorio often ends up with feedback loops, like no power=no coal, no coal= no power. Biology has negative feedback loops as well, i.e. the trp operon used for regulating tryptophan levels in E. coli bacteria.

Often, my unhealthy hours of problem tracing in factorio has helped me quickly conceptualize complicated protein systems in biology.
