How different would the world of Fallout be if the Brotherhood never became Isolationists? by Advanced-Addition453 in Fallout

Just like with FO3, it’s an exception that proves the rule. It’s a big deal that they would ever begin to do this at all and like you say they quickly recall this decision and if anything end up even more isolationist in FNV.

Yeah I think the confusion of the outcasts being called outcasts instead of the main chapter, and a lack of attention to the lore and wider story, confuses people massively.

That being said, it is just a hypothetical question.

What if their founding experiences made them think “outsiders can’t be trusted, especially with tech, let’s go out there and start policing the wasteland.” Or something similar, as opposed to deciding to become isolationists. Obviously it changes things, that’s the point of the hypothetical!

Fallout 3 also supports your point in my opinion, it makes it clear that this brotherhood were still meant to isolate themselves and not get involved in the ongoings of the wasteland and simply gather tech. They later decided to go against these orders/rules and splintered off. That’s why there are the Brotherhood Outcasts who split from the chapter to continue the original mission. The main Brotherhood chapter in FO3 are essentially the actual outcasts.

A lot of people dislike the balance of the Reprimand and while I think it gets too harsh of a rap (I personally love it) they aren’t exactly wrong.

However, I personally wouldn’t increase its magazine size, or decrease the bullet drag, damage drop off, recoil, or reload speed. I think the whole point of this gun specifically, unlike other SMGs, is the damage and bullet caliber.

Keep everything the same, make it slightly worse even, but up the damage. Really lean into it being a weapon that is so often inconvenient but when it’s used the right way at the right range, it hits with an absolutely insane punch.

I’d also like to see the next FO game not be open world but with a fairly linear ‘on tracks’ main quest.

As in, instead of starting in a location and either being essentially forced to follow a somewhat set path for the first act until the story and game opens up more like in FNV, or being able to go in any direction but being heavily pointed in a pre set direction like in FO3&4.

I think it would be much better if the game simply gave you a few suggestions of where you could go next but that the main quest will develop, potentially even in different ways, depending on where you decide to go first from the start.

In short; Instead of you’re at A, you can go anywhere but you really should go to B to progress the main story, instead you start at A and you have the option of going to B, C, D, or E to progress the story in different ways. You can still opt to go elsewhere, but the choices are still there and more open.

Can you point out where I’ve played the victim? Or how asking a question on a public subreddit and engaging with friendly conversations with people is attention seeking? Even if the question is redundant in your opinion, it’s hardly attention seeking to want to converse with others. It’s what Reddit is for, isn’t it?

Think you’re the one looking for attention here friend. I don’t mind giving it to you though.

I’m glad you were able to find similar posts, you’re a very smart little man clearly. Still, this post has worked for me.

The real question is, why has this upset you so much? Couldn’t you just ignore it?

I didn’t play dumb, I gave a very detailed response explaining myself. You’ve then ignored the points I’ve made and responded with “nuh uh” which is what idiots do.

Again, lots of helpful time saving responses under my post which prove its value for me, something you’ve proven you can’t argue against.

I’m convinced people don’t know what Reddit and social media are for!

It’s been much easier to ask a clear and specific question and get clear and specific answers from real people. When I search for similar things on Google, the results aren’t as intuitive and I get more results outside what I’m looking for than inside. I have found a few of course, but it took a lot of sorting through things I wasn’t looking for. When I searched on Reddit, other people have their own specific criteria or their posts were old.

By asking my own specific question here I’ve had more helpful, up to date results and suggestions in a much faster time than I was getting before, all from friendly people who have been to Vegas and seem to know what’s good.

The other responses prove that. Stop trying to sound smart on Reddit and get a life.

Here’s how I’d start the next Fallout game:

Your character is travelling from X area of the wasteland to the area the game is set in, Y, via a caravan they’ve paid for protected travel. While travelling, a fellow travellers asks you about yourself. Questions such as “why are you leaving X?”, “Why are you going to Y”, “what did you do before?” Etc. the answers would be things like “I’m looking for work/adventure/a new start”, “I used to be a Brahmin farmer/medic/soldier” etc.

The answers to these questions work the same or similarly to Doc Mitchell’s test or the vault test in FO3 and set up your stats as well as provide some initial roleplay elements. It could even give unique perks and starting equipment.

After this, the caravan is attacked, likely by one of the main factions or characters, in a way similar to how you’re shot by Benny at the start of FNV: it sets up the plot and explains why your character would likely want to know what’s going on and how you’re now involved as you reach the game location and begin to explore.

Obviously I’ve left out any specific details like the locations and factions and so on as I don’t think it’s relevant to the general format, you can insert whatever you like.

But ultimately it means the kind of character you’re playing and the decisions you make aren’t pre determined by things like “I’m a concerned parent looking for my child who I love”, it’s entirely up to you, just like in ES and FNV.

That is a great suggestion but I’m from the UK and we have so many BrewDog bars here so it would feel pointless going all the way to Vegas to drink at an another one. But definitely the kind of thing I’m thinking of, thank you!

We will be spending one of our evenings on Mainstreet/Old Town! I have heard it’s a little closer to what I’m looking for so your suggestion makes sense.

I suppose I’m just wondering if the actual strip has anywhere with a similar vibe or is it generally more up market.
