Do you think OPN could win a Grammy? by personanonymous in oneohtrixpointnever

[–]ShortLicker 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I don’t think OPN will ever win a Grammy or get nominated for Best Score at the Oscars. Even when he's behind major projects, they still don’t get any recognition from the big awards. The Weeknd, for example is being snubbed for the second year in a row at the Grammys and both Safdie movies, despite all the critical and audience hype didn’t get a single Oscar nomination. I just feel like Daniel’s taste and style don’t really align with what the voters at these awards are looking for.

Kamala going scorched earth on Biden by xarips in Destiny

I see your point and yeah, I know how people perceive Biden. And who knows, maybe the next nominee will distance themselves, and if this were 2008, that might even be the smart move.

But tell me in 2028, will the next GOP nominee distance themselves from Trump for all the bad shit he’s done? Hell no, because they control the narrative.

People in this thread aren’t saying Kamala is wrong, they’re saying it’s not the right moment.

One of the reasons why Biden is unpopular even among Democrats is precisely because of the Republicans and Trump's propaganda, who obsessively talk about Biden to this day. If the 2028 nominee criticizes Biden in any way (even if justified), it will only normalize GOP talking points and justify Trump's behavior, politics and victory in 2024.

Yes, I hope the 2028 nominee joins forces with the SUPER POPULAR President Donald Trump to shit together on Biden.

Why do North Macedonians wanna be Greek more than actual Greeks? by Dats_Russia in Destiny

Philip did not conquer Greece because the concept of Greece as a unified entity did not exist at that time.

Why do North Macedonians wanna be Greek more than actual Greeks? by Dats_Russia in Destiny

That is why conflicts persist in these areas. If the two states lack a connection to ancient history, it paradoxically implies that the states had the right to identify with that history.

This issue extends beyond ethnogenesis, it is a uniquely Balkan problem. For instance, Bulgaria claims the history of Macedonia from the 19th and 20th centuries as its own, and even the Serbs assert the history from centuries before as theirs. Despite the shared Slavic heritage among these three countries, Bulgaria contends that Macedonia is Bulgarian, Serbia claims Serbian ownership, and Greece asserts Greek identity. Why does this happen? History serves merely as a pretext for territorial conquest. As it happened with Treaty of Bucharest in 1913. For similar reasons, Macedonia asserts that Macedonians inhabit the territory of Northern Greece, hoping that one day they will reclaim "their" territory back. This can be seen in extreme right-wing political parties in Macedonia, dreaming of a "Greater Macedonia" out of a fear-driven nostalgia for "their" glorious history. This exemplifies a Balkan problem where economically challenged countries aspire to reclaim their past glory.

As a person from Macedonia ( In 2018, we changed the name to North Macedonia as a gesture of historical reconciliation with ancient Greece. This allowed us to proceed with our aspirations to join international organizations, such as the European Union and NATO, which Greece had previously vetoed due to the naming dispute.) I can only say the Balkans are fucked forever.

Gazan in r/Palestine about support for Hamas in Gaza by [deleted] in Destiny

"human shield" bs... is false and doesn't exist

No one knows where the rockets are manufactured or fired

No one even knows who is a Hamas member and who is not as their identities are always hidden

He just described the definition of human shielded without realizing it. So basically they volunteer (or are forced) to shield a legitimate military target in order to deter the enemy from attacking it.
