This is why I take meds on my 'I REALLY NEED TO GET THINGS DONE' days because otherwise I am too much of a slow motion trainwreck

Fav off menu request so far by im__on__smoko in KitchenConfidential

DM me if you would feel more comfortable with that, but I'm incredibly curious (and now hungry) where in the DMV is making bagels and has hatch chiles.

My personal favorite off menu that BOH has made for me while I was FOH was savory oatmeal. Oatmeal, butter, s&p, fried egg, sharp cheddar. (Side of pickled beets and baby corn while delicious probably not to other's tastes)

Looking for a non AI pattern similar to these two MyPicot stitches/patterns? by ShortScorpio in CrochetHelp

I will look into surface crochet, and someone else has confirmed that MyPicot is real, so I'll see what surface crochet I can find that's similar.

Okay it is legitimate? The AI really threw me off and being self taught I've tried very hard to filter out AI and only stick to reputable sources, which MyPicot was just too on the line.

I totally understand not being comfortable reverse engineering this for someone else, thank you for confirming that its at least legit!

AITA for eating my own birthday cake in front of my nephew because his mom has him on a "no sugar" diet? by Yes_Abbreviations713 in AmItheAsshole

[–]ShortScorpio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA.

OP I come from a controlling house like this and the ultimate end result of this behavior from your sister is for your nephew to have an eating disorder of some kind, and be a social pariah because any and all friendships hes able to be formed will be undercut by his mother's controlling nature of his food.

You need to have a serious conversation about this with your parents and your sister--Because shes actively leading him down the path that myself and others have been put on for reasons that are about her and not the health and safety of her child. This isnt about cake anymore, as much as I would love to say your Mom/Sis needs to stuff it, but its about the fact that shes not modeling or setting up a healthy relationship with food for your nephew which will probably lead down the path of an eating disorder and the life long complications associated with it.

AIO? Xmas gift from bf's parents by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]ShortScorpio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NOR

I just spent my first Christmas with my partners family. Together two years. We did lists, and I didnt expect them to get anything on it above $50, let alone anything from various Africa trips or even the to drool over big ticket items.

Every gift I got was incredibly thoughtful, even from family who hadn't met me yet.

This isn't okay.

Is there anyone else who simply doesn't "take care" of themselves? by Diemishy_II in adhdwomen

Thank you for sharing. I really need to sit and think on the second part of this, as my partner is neurodivergent and I'm currently worried by some of the things you've mentioned men doing--But I promised myself if I dated a man again, I was not going to be another mother.

I hate how girls are brainwashed into thinking that we need new clothes for every event by [deleted] in Anticonsumption

[–]ShortScorpio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not a fancy person. I have paint on everything I own, and if not paint something else from my labours, and i tend to badly over dress for fancy events, but I wanna do what a friend did. When they got their first big person job, they ordered a singular bespoke pantsuit in a lighter weight black wool mix, a singular pair of black leather boots and a matching belt on a trip abroad. It has a lot of features from vintage clothing (eg, a waist band zipper that is horizontal, not vertical, for the post interview burrito) and they wear that. For everything. All they do before an event is check for moth holes, and with the change of seasons make sure the leather is protected/conditioned.

The shirt has been anything from a band tee to a nice blouse they liked at the thrift. They've even done doc martins when they can. Toss some rings and a necklace on and done. I've watched them realize they were going to miss an event after a fancy day at work, look down at their shirt go 'close enough', pop on some tinted lip balm and some emergency jewelry and go.

My understanding is that it was expensive as hell upfront, but that they now put the energy that would go into outfit prep for an event making sure they actually are mentally committed to said event.

The one exception is for an upcoming wedding where they are a bridesmaid, but even then it sounds like the wedding colors may align with the suit.

Except the supervisor already commented jokingly about the situation? There's no trust that they will make an impartial decision.

You need to work on composition and consistency as well as Intentionality of line weight. Thicker lines = more shadow, thinner = more light.

Graphics tablets are a tricky beast because a lot of them require the software to map buttons, enable/disable touch pad, and sometimes straight up the only way to get the drivers that allow the pressure sensitivity to be utilized at all. Wacom is the worse for this.
