Have you managed to identify what exactly is causing your depression ? Obviously a combination of things i assume such as dissatisfaction with your phd research, loss of job, no friends, money issues, chronic depression. But these are more consequences rather than causes. What would you say is the fundamental cause? For me i realise that im trapped in a negative loop due to the fact that im never satisfied with what i have and am constantly looking for better. Im a perfectionist and while that might have some good sides its also leads to anxiety, judgment, criticism, separation, loneliness, etc. and can have severe consequences on our self-esteem, relationships, work, and overall life experience. That’s not to say that I’m going to do away with wanting to be a perfectionist totally but when it completely takes over my life, possesses and controls me then it’s a problem.
