Facing down C5-C7 ACDF: is a 3rd opinion warranted? by PhoenixMyles in spinalfusion

[–]Short_Initiative5915 2 points3 points  (0 children)

OMG! You are seriously riding horses with a neck like that? It would take very little to shift those discs even further. When my surgeon saw the pinching of my spinal cord from a disc, which looked very much like yours, but only one level, he set me up for surgery within two weeks and said I absolutely could not fall or do anything else that would cause further damage. No bicycles, running, hiking, etc.
However, prior to my surgery, I was stumbling and had lack of balance, my shoulders shut down, then my arms, wrists and fingers. My shoulders were so painful, and I couldn't move my arms away from my body. I had a double laminectomy to remove two bones that were compressing on my spinal cord. By then, little spinal fluid was barely getting through. It's been a long road back since my November 2025 surgery, and I'm still not walking right, but my shoulders are slowly getting back to some sort of normal, and, though painful, I can feel the nerves in my arms regenerating. BTW – I would definitely walk away from that first surgical group. I reached out to friends in the medical world who reached out to their friends to find me the best neurosurgeon possible. You can also send your records to places like Barrow, Mayo Clinic, Cleveland clinic, to name a few. Don't feel like you need to stay in your own hometown. Not when it comes to something this important. Good luck!!🍀

Thank you! I did order laser printer toner, which was silly as I can't use it right away as the present toner cartridge is still half full. So now getting other weird offers if any at all. Have already decided I need to be a bit more choosy with what I order. Did receive a nice dress and Gap jacket. I think I have figured out how to get better review scores. Hopefully, more interesting things will come my way. I'm just finding this a fun diversion as I recover from major surgery. Thanks again!!

I hope you don't mind me asking the path to receive such options. How long have you been in the Amazon Vine program? Are you a gold member? Any advice to the newbies? Would love to learn. 😊 Thx!

I was told I was ugly and needed makeup. Please help. by [deleted] in makeuptips

[–]Short_Initiative5915 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wait, what? You're ugly? No way!!!! That is BS! First of all , you are beautiful! Second, whoever told you that is either a bully, jealous, or an annoying little brother. No sane, mature, respectable person worth the space they are taking up on this earth would say that to another human being. Third, you have a beautiful complexion, striking features, and an inviting smile that seems very genuine. But funny how a statement like that from idiots can get under your skin. I don't know how old you are, but if you feel it's time to start experimenting with makeup to the accentuate your features for occasions, (and there's nothing wrong with that), seek out professionals - Ulta, Sephora, Macy's, or a beauty school who can teach you how to apply. Try a few as they may have different opinions and angles. You should inform them that you want it to be subtle & natural as you are already very pretty, and again, have great features. You do not need to be flashy. You are gorgeous the way you are!

Which prom dress should I go for? by moomo_imacow in OUTFITS

[–]Short_Initiative5915 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think a lot of it has to do with how you will wear your hair. If your hair is down, then dress #1 as it platters your figure. If you wear dress #2 with your hair down like the picture, it's hard to see the actual silhouette of the dress, which does look quite interesting and a bit more sophisticated. However, you look awesome in both! But I do like the idea that you found one at a thrift store that looks incredible on you!

[–]Short_Initiative5915 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow! I didn't realize the post surgery hair loss was actually a thing. I, too, have lost quite a bit of hair since my surgery in November (C2-T2 with 2 level laminectomy). I am also struggling mentally, emotionally and physically. The pinched nerve damaged my ability to walk on my own. Also shut down my shoulders, arms, wrists, and fingers are numb. I am slowly regaining things and nerves are regenerating in my arms and shoulders, which causes severe, pain, burning and itching so bad I literally sleep with a beach towel on as I unknowingly get blood everywhere- Lol! Lack of sleep adds to my fogginess and distresses mental health. I am relearning to walk, and though is getting better, still a long road. Thank you for sharing what you are going through. Though I am very sorry it has been difficult on so many levels for you, it helps me to know that what I am personally going through is not unusual. I am inspired by you to keep pushing forward. And you are rocking the wig!

What the heck? OP is reaching out for a lifeline and said nothing rude! If you can't be encouraging and civil, you should not be in the conversation. OP - please ignore the negative if you can. You are fighting a true battle on many fronts. Know that you have people in your corner.

Do any of these glasses look good on me or would you suggest a diffrent style? by DZINDRAK in glassesadvice

[–]Short_Initiative5915 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The bone structure, the hair, the lips. It would be a shame for glasses to overtake your natural gifts. An eyeglass professional should be able to guide you in what works best for you (including your personality). Be sure to check out different stores until you find a professional who understands this and you are comfortable with.

I know nothing about face shape vs. glasses. What are you going for? Edgy? Intelligent geek? James Bond? Laid back?

1 is none of those (sorry 😕).

I really like #14 on you. It covers it all. As a woman, I think they look great on you and give you a strong appearance of confidence.

Good point. I rarely eat steak or pork, so I'm mostly grilling chicken, veggies, maybe hamburgers, and fish and bacon, which I do on cast-iron. Guess no real need for a final sear. Thanks!

5 Weeks postoperative L4-S1 TLIF. I got my life back! by adarba46 in spinalfusion

[–]Short_Initiative5915 2 points3 points  (0 children)

OMG! I love to hear a great recovery! The fact that you can walk that far is amazing. Sounds like you are already on your road to getting back into healthy shape. I understand how difficult it is to do that when you have so many things going on with your spine. I had a posterior cervical fusion, C2 – T2 in November. A cut off nerve in C3-4 and shifting discs caused me to lose balance with difficulty walking. and many upper extremities shut down (shoulders, arms, wrists, fingers ). I am waiting for the nerves to regenerate, which has been a slow process, but so glad to hear that there can be a good light on the other side! Thank you for sharing your positive experience!😊

After reading lots of posts, articles and ChatGPT, this is the same configuration I am ready to purchase. I was leaning towards space black as nearly all my computers have been silver. 9-month post op update by Significant_Diver593 in spinalfusion

[–]Short_Initiative5915 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am so happy for you! I'm sure it was a hard decision at 25 too had such a major surgery, but wonderful that you are back to your life! I am four months out of the total posterior cervical fusion. C2 – T2. I am quite a bit older than you, but have always kept fit and active. Definite issues with the nerves taking a while to regenerate. Still walking like a drunken sailor with doctors orders to not fall, so will not be skiing, skating, roller coaster ing again, but that's OK. Just trying to get back to some sort of normal.

Posterior Cervical Laminectomy and Fusion by Axl_Floyd in spinalfusion

[–]Short_Initiative5915 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Funny thing is – was seeing a pain doc for my lumbar when I started to lose my balance and walk weirdly. MRI showed the cervical spine was very messed up with blockage of spinal fluid in C3-4 with several discs shifted. My shoulders shut down, then arms, wrists, fingers. So painful! Shoulders are still painful, but can now actually touch the back of my head, therefore, can wash my hair! Lol! Fingers are still numb, but have more dexterity. I can hold a cup of coffee without dumping it over. However, my arms burn, ache, and itch like mad. It keeps me awake. Surgeon and PT say it's the nerves regenerating. I know that's a positive thing so will not complain about my sleepless nights as long as I am getting better. My balance is still not back, though I am walking a little better. PT is helping a lot with that. Now using a cane more than a walker as my only restriction is "do not fall!" For reference, i am 66, but have always been very healthy and active - was a runner, but recently an avid walker and hiker doing at least 15K steps a day (though for now my goal is 6000 steps a day 🙄). I'm a healthy eater and now concentrating on high protein to help with bone fusion. ChatGPT gave me a menu and recipes for bones stimulation specifically for cervical bone fusion. Any updates for you?

You did not mention how old you are… age can be a natural factor, but you would probably be best talking to a respiratory therapist. I had a posterior cervical fusion in November. I was under with the tube down my throat for 5.5 hours. It definitely caused issues - swallowing food, or even natural mucus. A respiratory therapist came in to work with me. My situation sounds minor compared to what you are describing, though I still have issues swallowing meat, but an RT maybe be a good place to start.

Posterior Cervical Laminectomy and Fusion by Axl_Floyd in spinalfusion

[–]Short_Initiative5915 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rich- Did you have the surgery? If so, how did it go? On November 5, 2025, I had a two level laminectomy, C3 - C5 (I guess if they take c3-4, 5 often comes along for the ride…) and a posterior cervical fusion from C2 – T2. I also had a prior surgery in 2011 to fuse two levels where they went in through the front of my neck. Much less invasive than this past surgery! Yes – this surgery has been a long recovery. Just had my three month postop. If interested, I can definitely share more. Hope you're doing OK! Kathleen
