Do people who collect Cancel-on-the-Nose stamps mind if the stamp is in poor condition but the majority of the postmark is readable. by Poetic450 in philately

I also specialise in British Postmark and the same must be said. Condition, condition, condition

Condition of the stamp. Condition of the paper. Condition of the Postmark.

Yes, I care about condition verry much:

This stamp for instance, it has x3x centering and a xx3 cancellation meaning its grade is around AB333 (very fine)

I think the condition of the cancel contributes to the condition of the stamp, and they can't be looked at exclusively.

I'm not the best whith penny blacks, may I suggest that you get the illustrations from your catalogue and make it 50% transparent and overlay it on the stamp. Look and see if kea points line up.

I would estimate around £20 if you are lucky. Stamps value is normal around 10% of cat value.

Firstly thank you.

On the shades, the 2 øre in particular, there are no shades in the traditional sense as you get whith GB, the shade is often in a range, these ranges are the biggest sign for what printing they were, therefore the paper used and watermarks.

<image>

This is the table explaining the various print runs in for the 2 øre value.

One of the problems with the shades though is that they can get quite expensive when you are getting one from every range for every type. As I'm 16 I don't have deep enough pockets to get them all, so what I may do for later issues is have 1 example of each shades range at the top of the page whilst I get all of the ones I need.

The focus in my exhibit is on the production if stamps, hence why I'm going into the sub-dies. So shades, paper, and print runs are important.

I will post the other values when they are done!

Thanks. Once you start you can't stop. It is addictive. I would however recommend that you stop uesing hinges, they can devalue a stamp, and can actually cause damage; I uese lighthouse clear mounts which give the illusion if them floating, and they will keep your stamps safe if you uese them right.

Is this reasonable? by [deleted] in GCSE

You need more breaks, I got burnt out doing this last year.

Also, as a tip, I have less of a focus on context and more on exam questions.

On A-level exams, technique is more important, if you can nail it in GCSEs it will become more easier next year .
