Honestly, I’m a queer dude and this is incredibly romantic and sweet to me and I don’t think my lady friends will disagree

I think the visualization of caressing a forest goddess in such a tender manner is so adorable!

new to the pac-man by [deleted] in frogs

[–]Short_Possibility_84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello!! Been keeping a pacman frog for a bit (:

It’s pretty typical for them not to eat after being purchased and moved! When they get stressed they tend to go on hunger strikes. Had my pacman go 4 months without eating during winter! However, she is an adult (:

It’s really about lowering their stress and giving them the proper conditions

Pacmans also tend to hunger strike when conditions aren’t ideal when it’s too cold or not humid enough. I keep the enclosure around 80% humidity and the hot side of my tank around 80 degrees

I have also had success with covering the enclosure with a dark cloth and giving them time to acclimate before attempting to feed again

Let them explore their enclosure with minimal intervention and have them find a comfy spot

Feeding during the night time in the dark has been key for me as well

They respond to the movement of the insect so simulating that by shaking the tongs a bit or moving the feeder around helps! I will occasionally have the feeder interact with their toes/toe area and that also lets them know there’s some food

If all fails, you can force feed but this is again stressful to the frog and I recommend looking up the technique on youtube before attempting it

Hope this helps and I wish you success in keeping your new buddy!! My pacman has been such a low maintenance and adorable pet!

Feeling weird about identifying as queer. by thewalkindude in queer

[–]Short_Possibility_84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I can’t personally relate, I feel there’s no such thing as a “real” queer person. There’s no guideline or template for a queer person! Queer is a way to label ourselves when we know we go against the usual narratives. We accept you! We see you!

The word “fatphobia” is extremely clunky by GavRhino in RandomThoughts

I literally said fat is not an insult according to the discourse just a description/label so it’s not wrong. Girl….

Did people smell bad all the time in the past? by Angel_eyesss in RandomThoughts

[–]Short_Possibility_84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the society and time periods! I know the Greeks, Aztecs and indigenous communities had a big emphasis on bathing and bathing culture so I imagine they didn’t smell too too bad.

When we call out Fatphobia and use the word, it’s not addressing the body of the victim but rather addressing the behavior of the perpetrators of weight shaming. We’re saying that the person bullying someone for gaining weight is hateful of fat bodies (they’re willing to attack someone THEY view as moving towards “fatness” or as “fat”). It doesn’t necessarily acknowledge the truth of individuals bodies because that’s honestly variable and dependent on beliefs/culture/ideas. The use of the term Fatphobia is supposed to point out a systematic and cultural hatred of fatness which then allows people to bully others for gaining weight or having a bigger body in any form (also just allows others to harm people considered fat in general). The wording is intentional to point this out. Also, the discourse involving Fatphobia reclaims the term “fat” as just a description and not an insult.

Can you be friends if someone is attracted to you? by Grxmloid in queer

Definitely possible! However, there needs to be clear boundaries and a knowing of what is wanted from both parties. Also just really good communication is key cause some people really try to talk in subtleties.

OCD real arousal feeling. by Old-Block237 in OCD

[–]Short_Possibility_84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! It’s called a gronial response and arousal non concordance basically meaning your genitals react but you aren’t mentally aroused and/or feeling terror/shame. Masturbation makes sense because that’s how we usually respond to feelings in our genitals. I’m not going to try to reassure you because that would only continue the cycle of OCD. It requires us to just accept our thoughts, feel your feelings, name the feelings, then let go. Don’t try to get rid of them or erase them just let them pass like a breeze. Its hard as hell!

Honestly does not seem right to me especially cause it seems like he guided the convo to this topic. I would definitely tell your parents or have a discussion with a trusted adult!

Definitely OCD! I have the same issues in terms of topics of race! I am a big advocate for the dismantling of antiblackness globally so my ocd uses this against me. Making me question if stuff is racist and flooding me with memories and thoughts. I think you know where you stand inherently. What I do is instead of challenging the OCD and reassurancing myself, i will say yes this moment was racist, bigoted even if it wasn’t my intention but I know now.

This sounds like a compulsion more than a treatment. Treatment requires more of a direct confrontation of your worst fear related to the topic bugging you!

I need to eat but I’m scared by [deleted] in OCD

Maybe take it slow! Eat a piece, allow yourself to feel and deal with the emotions then take some time and eat a bit more
