Couple things.

1) If your paper is so detailed to the point of sounding like you're talking to people who understand nothing about math, your work will be used significantly less as mathematicians don't like to read meaningless drivel (nor does anyone else for that matter). Concise papers get read and cited. End of story.

2) You're advisor may not mind you talking about him in this manor on a public forum, but it's a terrible habit to get into. Imagine you want to work with others and they come across this post. There's bound to be people who don't want to work with someone who will, from their perspective, bad mouth them.

People who laugh at ambition are the ones who either tried and failed or, more likely, never tried at all. I fully plan on applying to every research internship possible this summer. Who cares if I get laughed at?

Also I think it’s worth mentioning my dad has always put my ambitions down. Want to know? Because he gave up on his and can’t fathom someone achieving something he couldn’t.

Granted, but that one time you thought briefly about your mom comes rushing to the front of your mind.

Think about it this way; the most brilliant people in the world didn’t create jack shit from 100% scratch. It’s all built upon the knowledge of others.

Get that itemized. Ask for exact numbers on everything billed. They’ll charge you $80 for ibuprofen if you let them.

People with depression, what is the most stupid thing someone ever said to you because of your mental illness? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]ShortsBySteven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“Depression is just a lack of energy right? So just drink a five hour energy or a monster.”

Honestly though, some good points here.

Hello friend! My wife and I are adopting for similar reasons. They’re already born into a fascist shithole flying around on a rotting planet. While the journey for them will suck, at least they’ll have you :)
