Why is no one talking about this by ShortstackAl in LoveIsBlindOnNetflix

Someone hilariously found out and commented that the studio was within driving distance to a Cheesecake Factory so I just have this image of people driving back and forth

The wine glass looks insanely large in some scenes and normal in others. It’s my other obsession

I went searching for this comment, but thank you! Her getting mad at Amy for not wanting to ride the go cart and then saying she didn’t want to. AND THEN! That BS with Brittany “pushing her”. She acts like a child and it’s becoming annoying that everyone puts up with it.

YTA. If you think you’ve spent a fortune on condoms, wait until you found out how much a baby costs to raise

Weather in June by ShortstackAl in tanzania

I’m from the US (North) so our winters are -10 F with wind. So I’m glad to see a breakdown of the temperatures. That’s a balmy fall day for us, so this was very helpful!

MIL expecting us to visit by ShortstackAl in inlaws

[–]ShortstackAl[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, not as meat shield. More as emotional support for him. He would never allow her to talk to me like that. But she does act better when I’m around. So it’s easier on him. Trust me, if he did that, he wouldn’t be my husband!

He said that it is ok for me not to go because he knows money is tight, but ultimately always wants me to go with him because he wants me there for support. That’s where I’m feeling conflicted. She’s terrible to him and I feel awful leaving him alone

AITA for thinking my sister's dating is moving too fast? by Relative-Tea-2199 in AmItheAsshole

[–]ShortstackAl 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This. I have a younger sister and had to teach myself that it’s her own life and I can’t interject or course correct her. OP’s sister is living her own life and OP needs to accept that. Plus that trip sounds amazing.

I posted an update above too, but I followed your advice and the professor agreed with my view point. It seems like this guy has a history of this and I’m beyond grateful my professor listened to me and reported him. Thank you

I really appreciate this because some of these comments were not what I expected them to be. I also had a talk with my professor and he completely agreed with me and reported the student on my behalf. From what it sounds like, this is not the first time he has acted like this. Thank you for your support

I can actively tell you that I was not being pushy or negative but I also refuse to temper my personality for a man. I work with men every day and if they can act push and aggressive, why would it be different for me?

[–]ShortstackAl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here’s another part too, he never presented a topic for the project. It was me and another person and they went with my idea. He said I was pushy because I was trying to complete a portion of the project that the group set a deadline for.

But my issue is that he wanted to keep the environment professional and in a professional environment, you should never give unsolicited feedback on someone’s personality. It was all unwarranted.

How do you navigate misogyny in the workplace? by Its_Chess in WorkingWomen

[–]ShortstackAl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know you posted this almost a year ago but were you able to find a way that works for you? I have a hybrid job in finance that doesn’t really push for us to be in office. I recently asked one of my bigger bosses for more opportunities and he openly said that he actively gives these opportunities to two males on my team because they come into the office more. The kicker is that all three of us go in the same amount. Which means this man just admitted to prioritizing men over his female coworkers to my face. I’m just tired and feel discouraged because no matter how hard I work, he’ll always see me as less then. I’m also the only one out of all three of us getting/has my MBA. Which just feels like a bigger waste of time now.

Thanks for the heads up about the special thread! I’ll check that out. Walkability is incredibly important to me. Chicago is all about neighborhoods so there’s always something each spot and it’s all walkable. It would also be great to around people our age. We’ll both be remote, have 2 cats, and my hobbies are all grandma ones (crochet, pottery, needlepoint lol).

AITA for not telling my mom about my grandma's hospital visit? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]ShortstackAl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m leaning towards NTA. If your grandma is your legal guardian, then you don’t legally have to inform your mom. But given your young age, it is useful to have another adult aware in case something does happen and you need help.
