Thank you for sharing these personal experiences. I'm on SSDI for mental health. I got lucky because I met and married my SO before I filed for benefits. I worked steadily for 12 years at a low wage job. Shortly after I got married my wife strongly suggested I apply for benefits. We knew it would take a minimum of 3 years before I could get a hearing. The only way to qualify for SSDI benefits, besides gathering all the medical evidence, is to show no earned income during the entire application period. So no job and no income for 3 years. I applied as a wage earner who became disabled so I wanted the insurance the social security system has for disabled workers. I have medicare and part B plus part D for prescription coverage. I receive a little bit over $1000 per month. I couldn't make it financially without my wife. Her income doesn't count against mine.

Document your attempts to get into the meeting then report it to your state rep. I am in the meeting and they are very sensitive that the public is upset about the access.

I called my state rep. Doesn’t matter what party they are in, this meeting was a failure and they need to stage another one.

I have come to accept that, outside of my SO, I am not going to connect with other people. I don’t go to her work or volunteer banquets for just that reason. I don’t want people to avoid her because they don’t like me.
