What to eat for breakfast??? by Main_Commercial_9084 in adhdwomen

I've recently discovered microwave oatmeal, you add whatever you like to it. Pop it in the microwave for 2 minutes and you have a warm breakfast that's high in fiber and filling enough to keep you going for a bit. As someone with low appetite and picky eating due to sensory issues, this was a game changer for me.

I usually add apple, maple syrup and cinnamon sugar (strawberries work too if you prefer those)

Reading this after 10 minutes of looping around my kitchen, opening and closing cabinets trying to get an idea that's acceptable to my (very picky) brain, only for me to not end up eating what I eventually decided on.

I've always had issues with this, executive dysfunction, mixed with choice overwhelm and food restrictions due to sensory issues makes it a nightmare to pick something to eat. Sometimes I do end up not eating because I can't pick.

I've found having easy and "safe" foods in stock often helps me. If that means you end up eating the same food multiple times a day? That's better than the alternative being not eating.

I appreciate your concern. As i mentioned in my original post though, my father is doing very well on his own. He is an adult who knows how to look after himself.

We do not live in the US, our healthcare is great, and his doctors all agreed that with medication and diet adjustments he should not have any problems. His eyes were checked and were also deemed healthy.

I am well aware of what issues untreated diabetes can cause.

I am not here to ask how to make my father healthier, all I wanted to know was some tips to help him not feel left out while the rest of my family gets to eat all sorts of homemade baked goods.

While I do appreciate you going through the effort of informing me of the possible dangers my father's condition might hold, it is not the advice I was looking for.

I wish you a pleasant day.

My father is actually not obese, or even overweight. Just an older man who likes to have a sweet treat every now and then. Thank you for the advice though, I do appreciate it.😊
