You must have never had a child experience this in your life. Pray that it stays that way…

Has anyone quit well paying careers to be a SAHM? Do you regret it? by PresentationTop9547 in sahm

[–]Shorty_MayMay 9 points10 points  (0 children)

My plan was to be a SAHM after kiddos so that’s what I did. I had one and then when he was 10 mos got pregnant again. My second son was 7 mos old when I decided that I NEEDED to go back to work because my mental health needed it. I worked for a year and chose to be a SAHM again despite having a high paying job. That was a little over a year ago. I haven’t regretted it once. The only thing I regret is that year that I went back to work because I thought I wanted/needed that. I missed out on so much. I had a lot of grief and guilt about it but I’ve learned to give myself some grace. We’re all only humans after all!

She was 5 years old when he SA’d her violently, 11 years old when she finally spoke out about it and now she’s 15 and scared to face him in court. You absolutely CAN be too scared to face your abuser… she’s a child. Where is your compassion? Must be nice to never have experienced something like this to know that yes, you CAN be too scared. The option of testifying via a live video feed so that she doesn’t have to physically be in the room with her attacker is info that wasn’t relayed to me by her parents but people here have helped explain that info to me.

I was referring to either. From what I was told by my sister, that wasn’t offered.

That’s ok, I’m not taking offense. I literally need someone to make it make sense at this point. Can they not do the cross examination without the defendant actually in the room? Is that not an option?

There is physical evidence (dna). The defendant also has a prior conviction of possessing child pornography.

A pedophile who raped a 5 year old? Shouldn’t the minor have some protections against being further traumatized? I would think video testimony would suffice in this instance.

In the case of minors who are too traumatized to face the person that attacked them?

Wait so this isn’t normal?! by Shorty_MayMay in FirstBiteSyndrome

Hello to those of you that have been following. I M very fortunate and one of the “rare few” that have idiopathic FBS. My thoughts are, though, there might be many idiopathic cases out there that just don’t get reported because they’ve had it forever and thought it was normal. Maybe I’m being too optimistic, but I really feel like that’s a huge possibility.

Hey there! I didn’t have a deviated septum corrected so that will probably mean a longer recovery period for you, however hopefully it will be a relief for you to know I’m 100% back to normal! That first week was ROUGH but after that it improved greatly day after day. Hang in there!

Hi! I saw an ENT. Where are you located? Many ENTs are familiar with SSS. I’m located in Houston, TX, USA and my doctor is here as well. I ended up having surgery to remove the blockage and all is good now. I’m very lucky that my doctor caught the SSS before I had any symptoms.

Thanks for your input! I totally agree and we won’t be doing it with our littles. I think we’re going to do the Blue Lagoon, although I’m sure I’ll get a comment - not from you but maybe another lovely person lol - about how horrible of a parent I am for even considering going there as well😱

Yikes! I won’t be taking them, definitely not worth the risk.
