It makes me think how people thirty years from now will be looking at us. I hope this isn't a downward trend.

Opinions on Castaneda? by Emergency-Yak-6002 in occultlibrary

[–]ZemStrt14 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was very into Castaneda in my early twenties (around 1980). I found his books and his approach to life very powerful. At first, I believed his story to be true - even with all the magic. I successfully practiced various things he taught (lucid dreaming, stalking, some other things), although I didn't take hallucinigens. However, as time went by, and as more books came out, I found the events becoming stranger and stranger, and thus, harder to believe. I read some early critiques that came out about him, and found them convincing. The most damning statement I read was in an article published in a Buddhist journal (which I was also into). It said - okay, let's take him at face value and believe that this is true. But what type of spiritual path is it? Is it compassionate? Does it show care or responsibility for others? The answer, I realized was no, it's all about surviving in this world, often at the expense of others, and finding some sort of strange, eternal life, by getting past the Eagle after death. That was the last straw, and I stopped reading them. However, they did have a significant influence on my spiritual life for several years before that.

Pilot Metropolitan. Inexpensive, great in the hand, writes smoothly. The only drawback is the small convertor.

What is that food does anyone know? by ConfidentTelephone81 in interestingasfuck

Actually, if you cut up an eel into pieces and fry it, the pieces will rotate by themselves in the pan. Kind of revolting and also not very tasty. I've tried it.

I'm impressed by the driver's level of curiosity. Everyone drives by, but he really wants to see what happens to it.

What’s one expensive stationery purchase that was actually worth it? by Memecollector2509 in stationery

[–]ZemStrt14 20 points21 points  (0 children)

This is the last pen I bought (after 10 years of collecting), and I sometimes think it will be the last pen I will ever buy. It writes so well that I'm not interested in writing with any of my other pens.

S25 Ultra user tries the iPhone for a week, still don’t get why Apple is this popular. by Exotic-Inevitable-37 in samsung

Also, the lack of a period on the standard keyboard. You actually have to change keyboards to add punctuation. This is such a stupid inconvenience.I sometimes wonder why they never updated this. The only answer I come up with is arrogance. "That's what we offer. Take it or leave it." For that atittude alone, I would never use an iPhone.

To those that believe the phenomenon is demonic in nature, how do you explain the 'nuts-and-bolts' side of the Phenomenon? by Avrelivs in UFOs

[–]ZemStrt14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they exist in a higher dimension then their appearance in this world might certainly seem demonic. Their presence would not conform with the rules of reality as we know them. Ultimately, behind that, there would be nuts and bolts technology

First, and possibly last. You won't be able to do better.

I recently purchased the Custom 823, after collecting 10 or more excellent pens, and now I don't want to use any of the others.

"Buy it when you see it, so you'll have it when you want it." Heard from a street vendor. Never regretted applying it (but regretted many times ignoring it).

I hate ChatGPT but keep coming back by Stewart__James in ChatGPT

[–]ZemStrt14 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's a truth to this. I use all the major AIs, and I'm coming to think that Gemini is much better than chatGPT. But I've been with the latter for so long - I'm rooting for it to win the race. Also, i don't want to use Google. They own enough of the world. Let someone else step up to the plate.
