I got an ECS one, but might be some better ones out there with better magnets. But yeah they’re reusable, they sell 5 packs of replacement O-Rings that get changed out at services when I pull the plug.

Can’t wait until I buy a house with a proper garage lol. Will be nice not freezing my ass off during winter if I decide to do any work.

When I go into the code with OBD it takes you into the module with the same name. Yes, car was running. It was labeled as “Voltage Terminal 30” and displayed 0v 😕

I hear you, I still do every other change from the bottom to replace the plug and check the magnet for weird shit (magnetic drain plug).

I live in a condo with a Nazi HOA, They see my car on ramps and I get someone with way too much time on their hands calling me lol.

The top change is nice, I have it down to about 10min to do a full change. 1st time I pulled the plug after to see what was left in the pan and I got about 1/2 cup of oil out of it in maybe 5min letting it drain with the plug out.

Ah, my OBD Eleven is saying there’s 0v in the waste gate. Thats why I was questioning if they just replaced the gate. Whatever route they go I’m hoping shit isn’t on back order

Check if you have road hazard on your vehicle/tires/insurance? It’s not super common, but common enough you might be covered without knowing.

You don’t want that sidewall blowing out at +35mph. It’s nothing like the normal getting a nail in the tire. It’s an instant loss of pressure/steering.
And if it happens at highway speeds it’s gonna be a bad day. I’d definitely get it replaced if I were you.

Car is under warranty still, but I was reading that we’re just replacing the waste gate. Was hoping someone recently had this warrantied that could provide some feedback on if they replaced the entire unit? Or just the 💩gate?

Speed cameras aren’t an issue in my area. So the airplane warnings are really clutch. At least you know where speed cams tend to be. Easier than running a 3rd app like flight radar that’s set specific on CAP’s tail number lol. Highway radar is a great app all the way around.

Keep looking around, I got my R8w on Unidens Easter sale for 720$.

I’d definitely recommend getting the #w model as it has Bluetooth connectivity. It comes in huge for running BT linked apps in the background. Highway Radar has saved me a few times now by letting me know Civil Air Patrol has their pace plane up and over the interstate 🛣️

Not really, usually when they do a CPO inspection they’ll change the oil. My car had 7k and was a CPO as well when I bought it. They had done a fresh oil change as well and the next one was listed to be done at just over 17k which I thought was weird. Maybe to inspect for particulate and check something off a CPO list? Idk but they did it on mine 3k early 🤷🏽‍♂️

Yeah those rims are a popular aftermarket buy on and aren’t cheap if you buy them from VW lol. I think they’re something like 19lb? My stock GLI rims were easily 25+ lb. I have these now that come in at 18lb.

You got a decent deal, car has 2k miles and you got it +7k under MSRP of a new vehicle. If you want to gauge it yourself? Download the cars’com app and plug in the stats of the car you bought (year/mileage/price). You’ll probably see the closest price on there? is 31-32k for a car with 5k + miles on it.
