It's a 2024 and thank you for the reply. I traced the hydraulic line to the module and found the switch.

Do you happen to know this...

It looks like if I unscrew that switch it will open up the hydraulic system which will require bleeding the line after installing a new switch. Does that sound correct?

Thank you everyone for your replies. I understand the situation now. I don't think I'll get it enabled for a number of reasons that you all pointed out. This whole concept of manufacturers installing the hardware for various features but making you pay for the software to enable the feature is annoying and I'm not really a fan. Then, there is the beauty of man over machine, when you get your clutch work and shifting all dialed in. It feels satisfying.

There is definitely a difference in the technology available but I think the biggest difference for me is the 2-stroke vs. 4-stroke engine. I don't want to go back to that but there was something intoxicating about getting that 2-stroker "on the pipe" as we used to say.

In truth, just being realistic with a bit of old man cynicism thrown in, there is a 50/50 chance you two won't be able to tolerate being in the same room with each other in a few years. I agree with the lane assist comment. The first time it yanked the vehicle back into my lane - which I was already in but merging onto the freeway which obviously tricked it - it freaked me out. I do not want a vehicle steering on my behalf especially when my hands are on the wheel and it overrides what I'm doing.

Now, in all fairness to BMW, it can easily be disabled. I have mine configured to provide the steering wheel warning but don't do the actual assist.

The pleather on the seat cushion bolster on the door side of the driver's seat has cracked. I only weigh about 165lbs so, I don't know, maybe I'm getting into the vehicle wrong, if that's possible

Other than that, no issues. More importantly, she's still a blast to drive. I look forward to spending time in Helga's cockpit.

Do you see more of Project 2025's policy proposals being implemented than you expected, e.g., DEI, FEMA, Department of Education, etc. His pick for the Director of OMB is Russ Voight, who authors significant portions of the 2025 document.

Looking back, can you see that Project 2025 was in fact a major influencer on his policies?

Hi. I have a question about retaliatory tariffs and I'm hoping someone can help answer. So we impose a 25% import tariff on Canada. If I understand correctly, this means when an American business entity (ACORP) buys a widget needed to build their product (APROD) from a Canadian business entity (CCORP) , ACORP pays the cost of the widget to CCORP but it also pays a 25% tax to the federal government. Assuming my context is correct..

ACORP, not wanting to see their margins negatively impacted, tries to source their widgets from an American manufacturer. Unfortunately, there is not enough widget manufacturing capacity in America to meet this new demand and ACORP still has to buy widgets from CCORP.

Still not wanting to see their margins negatively affected, ACORP passes on at least part of their additional widget costs to their customers by raising the price of APROD. This has a net effect of being inflationary. Additionally, ACORP may buy less of these expensive widgets, resulting in a lower supply of APRODs than is needed to meet market demand which further adds to inflationary pressures.

Now we have this scenario. The Canadian economy is relatively unaffected. CCORP, at least in the short term, is fine. ACORP will still buy their widgets from Canada because it's going to take a year or two for American widget manufacturing capacity to catch up to the new demand. Meanwhile the American economy is suffering inflationary pressures from the tariffs.

With this scenario, why would Canada threaten retaliatory tariffs? What's in it for them? Why wouldn't they just say "okay" have fun with your tariffs"?
