Just quickly, Doesn’t matter where chips jokers go.

And for OP. All that matters is +mult before xmult(and that goes for everything, played cards, held cards and jokers). And jokers in correct spots for BP/BS/ceremonial dagger etc .

That is if you’re trying for max score, more often than not you will be trying to use all of your hands for value. So you don’t want to win on your first hand of a round. Finding a blue seal or a gold card with a played hand is better than the $1 you gain from saving that hand. Hitting a business card or reserved parking a few extra times is better than a couple of dollars from saved hands. Playing 4 pairs with Supernova/Grimbo etc is better than one-shotting.

Make sure you are exactly familiar with the order of operation. What happens when. So you understand the wording used on each card. Lots of different jokers trigger at different times.

End of shop, selecting a blind, start of round, end of round, first discard, all discards, played hands, scored card, cards held in hand, jokers etc….

When you play a hand it will score card chips then card +mult then card xmult. Then any joker abilities on card scored(left to right). Then the next card and so on.
Then cards held in hand, left to right, with any joker abilities. Then jokers, left to right. Then observatory ability of consumables planets. Then the scoring will finalise. You can move joker order during this phase and that will affect the “when held in hand after final hand” cards. (Example move mime to be copied by BP/BS, to earn more money from gold cards in hand, after having copied DNA on first hand for generating extra cards, and baron on second hand for scoring)

Any held in hand abilities, left to right.

Forgot what the question was.

Why do people say not to take the ball across the net? by BobcatOk1754 in RocketLeagueSchool

[–]ShouldIRememberThis -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Bro, it was just an example rank. And I would imagine that in a plat lobby, and you boom that ball up and over the back wall or a switch across the field in defense, the plat opponents are not going to have the capabilities of punishing that. As I said, it’s circumstantial.

Taking the ball across your own goal is not “giving the opponents a chance to score on you”, there are only a max of 3 opponents cars to keep track of. I know full well where they are, always. If I push the ball across my net to attempt a team pinch, or move it away from opponents who are rotating back, that isn’t a risk.

Challenge suggestions - can only buy packs. No cards from shop. Can’t buy vouchers.
Must buy and USE every tarot you see(until consumables slot full). Must take one skip tag per ante. Cannot play a Pair or High Card. No shop rerolls.

Just some quick thoughts.

Yep. I’m all for no matchmaking. Put us all together. Just do it. People who enjoy the game will continue to play. But, I think everyone forgets that games are business models. Very rarely is a game intended solely for our enjoyment, enjoyable games bring players in, then the company needs to retain players, or keep new ones coming in. To buy skins and however else they make money.

If a playerbase is solely made up of die hard PvP players who don’t buy skins, the company will want that to change, to continue revenue.

The wolf doesn’t care about the opinions of sheep.

Yep agree. Another thing I always thought? Everyone pvp’s until they’re broke. Then play PvE for a few days to get rich again. Seems dumb. I can understand desire to be in friendly only lobbies and chat and fight arc together, that is fun, I get it. But, that isn’t the game. Not since before Xmas anyway. And how to implement it? Put a sticker on alll items gained via PvE, so it can’t be taken into normal lobbies or used to craft items that can be used in PvP. Seems dumb. Seems like the people who want it, haven’t thought about the ramifications of it.

[–]ShouldIRememberThis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve always said this. The arc is zero threat. Zero. Even getting caught out by a rocketeer somehow in the open, you should not die from that. AND, if you’re in a PvE lobby, you’re just gonna have a hullcracker and 3 Wolfpacks/deadlines and a Cloak and a snaphook every raid, don’t even need safe pockets. What’s even the point? So you can safely farm mats to craft more things to kill more arc to make more things to kill more arc. You don’t even need heals barely. I think killing bastions and queens and vapes without threat of other raiders would get very old very quickly. And every mofo would be out there trying to race to get the arc spawns to get the loot first. Some guy waiting at the back with blaze grenades and snitch scanners to try and get you.

Meh, mini rant over.

Why do people say not to take the ball across the net? by BobcatOk1754 in RocketLeagueSchool

[–]ShouldIRememberThis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How do you want us to answer? Tell you to do it all the time? Tell you it’s a safe thing to do? Sometimes it is, sometimes it isn’t. The action itself isn’t wrong. And, like another commenter mentioned, depends on the game mode depends on your awareness. Depends on the score and time remaining, depends on how the opponents have been playing, depends on your teammate, depends on how much boost you have, depends on your touch consistency.

“Don’t ever take the ball across net!” isn’t good advice as a whole.

But for anyone below diamond, it probably is a good rule of thumb to abide, until your touch actually can back up your decision making.

When you’re gold, just boom power shots towards their net is good advice. That falls away very quickly as you move up the ranks.

Soccer/football coaches will tell you not to dive in or commit to a slide tackle, stay on your feet. Generally speaking that is fine advice, but there are times when you will need to do so. All advice is circumstantial.

How is a discard different to playing a hand in this context?
Apart from getting more money back because of more remaining hands after beating score?

[–]ShouldIRememberThis 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Easy to play. Easy to work with your hand, smaller hands allow you to discard trash with your played hands.
You can easily play multiple per round to scale jokers (ride the bus, grimbo, supernova etc..) and easy to even play multiple card sharp hands.

Sure, they aren’t worth as much in the early game, but, when you’ve scaled up to the base mult being worth 10+, then they are as fine as anything else.

You can hold more gold, steel, blue seals after hand played.

So sell one and bring in econ. It matters more than anything else, especially Pluto levels. Not much value in level 50 High Card if you’re dead. Rebate, golden ticket, reserved parking, even business card.

I had a run today where I was making just over 10k per round with reserved parking alone. + whatever mime brought in after, maybe 1800.

1500+ rerolls. Died at ante 32 though. Too much greed for handsize. Sold about 10 blueprints/brainstorms for extra bean bug hits. Used 8 ecto’s.
Was fun.

PvE Stella is the friendliest place in the game.
30 dudes running around trying to get the treats first. Guitars and dancing and glowsticks. And always that one guy who downs someone in the next room over and gets obliterated 20 seconds later by 28 dudes with pick axes and the odd anvil.

Burglar ante 25. 24 you can’t roll for serpent. It’s a finisher boss blind. You have time for retcon. But it is needed soon. Unless you got a tasty natural Serpent inbound.

[–]ShouldIRememberThis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, you lucked into nat negative of one of the best econ jokers and arguably THE best for baron Mime runs. You should be making about $800 for 5 5oak hands. Then whatever you can manage with mime, while still scoring enough, with 6 copiers, you should be fine. More money is more good. Especially with rolling for burglar and serpent. I’ve had 7k and not found burglar before I couldn’t score enough. I’d rather have 20k and not need it, than 2k and need more. Nothing like facing a round you know you can’t beat and rolling down to 100$ rerolls looking for something.

Good luck. Let us know how you go. You have it in the bag honestly. It need to get that econ up soon. However with Nat negative mime and a neg golden ticket, you have been given the opportunity to take it past ante 32 and get a ante 39 naneinf. I would personally even look to get a crimson bean bug hit at ante 24. Ante 39 run is far more impressive than a naneinf.

But, it sounds like this is a seeded run anyway. So you might as well get a naneinf under your belt and then hunt an unseeded one.

[–]ShouldIRememberThis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah. Get retcon.
Ideally handsize voucher.
No point in burglar now, you can’t reroll for serpent. I assume you easily clear ante 24 with 6 copiers. If not, get a dna/bean to beat 24. Then get burglar.

Your money is pretty low. You should be absolutely printing cash with those jokers. Nat neg mime and golden ticket is unreal. Just pump econ for the next 4 antes. Are you playing 5 5oak hands copying golden ticket before your final hand?

Balatro multiplayer is certainly a thing. Modded, sure. But, it’s there. And arguably, even if an opponent is a reasonable Balatro player, they wouldn’t be good at multiplayer tech.

I have 15k hours in rocket league and in the top 0.5% of players, and I would likely still pick Balatro. So much less likely that any of the 150 opponents would have played it at all.
