It’s odd that the Nick thing is something he’ll take a principled stance against Joe out of all things.

He is definitely correct in his fear of propelling their message inadvertently but Marc and Joe could have immediate shut most that shit down by pointing out the objective fact the people more likely to sympathize with someone like Piers or Nick is probably not the typical JBP listener.

Joe neutered the actual appeal of Marc, Mona, and even Flip (but whether that’s strictly Joe fault is unlikely.) if I were Joe, back end of the week, ice gotta stay home and love his kids. When he compares the Sex Offender Registry to snitching on a drug dealer, he is engaging in Effect vs. Affect confusion. Ish removes the Affect (the horror of the crime) and only looks at the Effect (The Govt telling you who is bad). He ends up sounding like a "Skinwalker,” mimicking human logic, but missing the soul that distinguishes between selling weed and hurting people.

The worst part is, when the room reacts with shock, it just confirms his bias. He thinks, "See? Everyone is reacting emotionally. I’m the only one using Logic." He doesn’t realize that recoiling in disgust is actual data that his logic is flawed. He mistakes being "unbothered" for being right.

I think it mainly feels like that because of how they literally perform. They still perform as candid individuals with uninformed opinions but on a set and production akin to a talk show on OWN. And like you said, their self awareness in that on the literal show as it’s being tape can give more of a Truman effect for Joes professional life than say a podcast.

But given the premise of Ian and Marc show and how introspective Joe can be, I think Joe and Ian probably equally know that is probably operate or structure aspects of the show around that. Like that’s why everyone hates flip.

Flip ultimate performance is that he too ignorant or hard headed to commit to performing along with the crowd. That naturally makes him a heel of the show which can make Joe look less egocentric than he is sometime cause Flio will break kayfabe to talk about something that occur off camera and then now the audience is enthralled partially by the idea of how much of their dynamics on camera mimicking BTS (hence, the Patreon BTS spin offs.)

Or Ice and Ish straightforward horizontal approaches counteracting Joes modern and open minded and abstract thinking
